I have just bought my 4th freelander 1 td4
Without the propshaft my other Freeland with me in it was head on right of and still at my house waiting collection.
So we transferred the propshaft from that as just had bearings changed.
Driving down the road the vibration was very bad and got slower and slower got it back after two miles smelling hot.
The tyre the old owner put on for the mot are much bigger than normal so what do you think it could be guys

With no prop the car was just 2WD.
If I understand right, you have connected a prop and now have issues? That’ll be why the prop was disconnected in the first place.

Likely the VCU overheating. You could also have issues with the rear diff and the IRD, depending.

Remove the prop immediately and only use 2WD until you have diagnosed and resolved… AND fitted matched tyres all round (size and tread)

The VCUs are prone to trouble and aren't cheap. Hence why there are a lot of Freelanders driving around where a previous owner removed the prop (and so disconnected the VCU) "to save fuel". It doesn't do anything except hide the failing VCU.
