Starter price isn't a problem its about the same as a new rover one £120 ish but its working out which one I need......

Using a GM big block flywheel just need to work out what tooth count I need for it now

tooth count is the same on either starter. Just how it bolts to fly wheel for bolt spacing. They make a after market to fit either bolt spacing

hmmm well I've got the bellhousing off an old chevy that fits a 13" clutch

Does the big block one bolt to the side of the bellhousing or to the base of it as those seem to be the two options when buying starters on ebay but the sellers are a bit clueless.....

Doc got to say you would be better fitting 200tdi and playing sound of v8 revving really nice over cb PA system that way we all have the twitch !! lol n you have the cash for shandys all round !!! We all winners !!

Caddy bolted to the block. No clue

Nah ;) V8 :D

Fair enough, I'm ordering a clutch from the states anyway. Tossing up a Hays Super Truck or RAM

Hays is double the price but no doubt worth it even though the RAM ones get a very good review

Fit a derv.. I duno, kids these days.

340bhp at 4800rpm and 480ft/lbs at 3000rpm I think, the figures are right not sure on the revs, they might be a little lower for max horsepower

I've also acquired a Wade R034 but no idea if I'll have time to fit it before, just come in for a lunch break before I continue with the series

Wow that's some impressive figures, Classic American 7ltrs to produce 340bhp :). Out of interest what gearbox and half shafts will you be running?

This thread moves fast haha off here for a day and I'm scrolling through pages an pages lol.

V6's and 5 liters are putting that out now;)

Gearbox I was planning on a Muncie but may use the ZF still, adaptor is ready to be machined for the muncie but after a measure up with the LT230 today it may be possible to get the ZF box closer to it.

Half shafts will be standard landrover 10 spline though and I will be bringing many spare rear ones!

Sounds good mate. the ZF, is that an the auto box? I too probably have some 10splines if you need them? I'm not 100% but I have a yard full of Landy bits.

You shouldn't brake any shafts unless you have a heavy right foot anyway. The extra power will just be handy to cruise at 70+ on the motorway :).

Looking forward to seeing it let alone hearing it :D

Erm yeah 70 is rather unrealistic :p I has 35" tyres, 4.7 diffs, a 1.2 transfer and a 1:1 ratio final gear  I reckons 60 will be its max!

No the ZF is a rare manual box out of a Pinzgaur, Maserati, Volvo C303 and BMW, mines the Volvo set up with the mid gear ratios just slightly higher than the Pinzgaur ones.

I'm hopefully going to get a chance to bolt it in next week if I get the new axles on and the adaptor made. Wanting to make up the bellhousing plate at least this weekend! After that I can take out the crank in situ and bolt the sump back on as I can replace the main bearings like that with the help of a friend and some wooden blocks to hold the crank in place or just rip the engine out again.
