Good Morning All, I have made several requests regarding various LR Models, and I must admit, Im not sure I should buy one reading the feedback!!

Yet, I am on a quest to own a LR.

I am now looking at 2003 RR Vogue TD6, with 86000 miles, what do I lookout for?

Gearbox. They go at about 80,000. Some last longer, some less.
They were sold as sealed for life. This lead to them lunching themselves.

+1 on the above, plus suspension bushes, steering column, EAS, & water in the electronics in the rear N/S quarter.
If the box hasn't been replaced, either budget £3K for replacement in the near future or get a 12 month warranty that covers it.

Hi, do you feel the P38 is a better bet?

Does the P38 steering feel very light for the size of vehicle?
The P38 is much less expensive to fix and the diesel engine is pretty good, better than the V8 for reliability. Also much less expensive to buy and simpler electronically.

Your on a forum, people only tend to come here with 'problems' and 'issues' ,
Rarely do you get people that come on and state how long they have owned the car, love it and never had any issues etc etc....

Let's face it, any car you buy will break at some point. Some more than others and a RR may fall into that category but hey, that's life.

Life's too short, enjoy it in a RR ;)

:D. I love mine to bits, but can't see me keeping it for too much longer, could really do with something that's going to do 50 to the gallon.

I hear you bro - someone at work today pointed out the '03 Volvo V70 D5 auto he's selling does 40+mpg ..and it's got more toys/leather/wood etc than a P38, and it's black, and it's cheap! I'm sorely tempted to jump ship for the daily and get an old RRC for the mud! :D

I am tempted to jump ship for a Jag XK, get about an extra 10mpg (allegedly), but using fuel that is 10p a litre cheaper.

You're thinking of buying the first model year of a Range Rover? Brave! What goes wrong? Everything.

@stuckagainsteve, normally I would agree with you on avoiding early new models but my june2002 td6 was faultless for the 4 yrs I had it (5 previous owners, no service history at all) was completely original and is still pooling along happily with its new owner and well over 100,000 miles.
