hi all,im getting a noise coming from the prop when i lift my foot of the accelerator,on checking underneath,i think the support bearings are shot as seem too be alot of play in them could some one tell me how much if any play there is in the bearings, thankyou all, carl

Should be no play, are you confusing play with soft rubberbushes which again is a good reason to change

I would hold your horses, and maybe look towards the gearbox etc.

In my experience the VCU bearings grind and grumble like hell when completely shot, and tick or squeal if on the way out.

Under power or not, the prop shaft still revolves If you think about it..Shouldn't/doesn't make any difference if they are shot.

You will know when they are toasted completely, you really will. It is one unholy permanent racket.

As above, check the propshaft couplings each end and condition of the unions. Rear diff mounts could also be the problem.
