A damper is bolted to the NV 225 transfer box on the TD6. The same transfer box is used for the 4.4 V8 but the damper isn’t fitted.

Phil

Thanks Phil. If nothing else this damn vibration is giving me a whole host of new things to learn ;)

Did they reset the gearbox adaptions??

The ECU 'learns' the required modulation of the valves to attain the best shift transitions and amount of slip etc.....as the clutch plates wear, the required modulation times change and the gearbox adapts to these requirements.

With a new box with new clutch plates, amount of valve modulation required will be different to what the ECU has 'learnt' and need to be reset so it can learn again.

If they have been reset, it could be the ECU is re-learning which can take a couple of hundred miles or so until it shifts smoothly and the clutch packs are fully bedded in.

But, it does sound GB or TC related......but also get them to look at the engine mounts....on the Td6 L322 they are 'active' and are hydraulically controlled....if they are leaking and loosing pressure, engine knock and vibration can be transmitted to the subframe and subsequently cause vibrations.
Welllll, no definitive answer at the moment BUT had the diagnostic guy out and it might be gold star and lollipop time for Ant.
The readings were almost like for like on spin but as he started to take them up to 2000+ , the whole car started vibrate. So checked the mounts and rear right , as you look at them, wasn't happy. Also found a pipe with filter on it, with vacuum, attached to nothing and another cut pipe leading from somewhere around the engine area. Will take pics tomorrow.

Further to my last , took the photos but darn things won't load. However, by following the hosepipe that is chopped and goes nowhere backwards, I found it has a small, very old and dirty, filter on it and disappears under the engine somewhere. The pipe with the new filter at it's end , which has the vacuum, also seems to disappear in to the black shadows under the engine. Both are to the right as one looks into the engine bay.

Continuing the theme of talking to myself, I've managed to load the pics but theyre not great.

Thanks Andy. I'm going to unable to do much for a week or so but will get it checked out then. Really starting to think those hosepipes are looking likely candidates for the issue with the mount.

Golden Girl is coming home tomorrow. Rosie's nose will be out of joint as she has been getting used to having the drive to herself of late. Allegedly the vibration is now gone. I shall tell you all tomorrow what the issue was. I'm not saying it yet, as I want to drive her and make sure that it really is sorted before allowing myself a quick smile, before she thinks of another part she wants.
Although Rosie is getting ideas , just by being near her. Rosie has demanded a new battery this week! Chicken feed compared to the Golden Girl.

The Golden Girl is home. Not a rattle, not a rumble, not a vibration to be heard or felt on the way home. How long she lasts before wanting some designer part is anyone's guess.
The injectors were sent away for checking and apparently No5 was waaayyy out. It has been replaced and my baby is running smoothly. Long may it last.

Which is a really common problem i believe but we were all looking towards drivetrain....
Glad it's sorted, nothing better than finding that piece of the puzzle

Oddly enough No 6 had only recently been replaced before the saga took hold. I did say at some point ages ago that with the luck I've had of late, that there was probably another problem being hidden by the transmission issues. But the mechanics were so convinced it was the TC that it was almost tunnel vision. Just glad that she decided to vibrate in park when auto-electrician was here, as she wouldnt replicate it to the same extent once I took her back to Gibsons. But the extreme vibration he and I saw was what sent them looking at the injectors. Oh and the hosepipe with filter is supposed to be free standing. Mechanic did tell me what it was but I've forgotten.
It just feels good to have her running the way she should. Fingers crossed it lasts for a while. She might look the same on the outside but underneath she's had more work than Sharon Osbourne ;)

And on a happy note the Golden Girl sailed her MOT today. Although as she's almost new underneath I wasn't overly concerned.
