thats what i like to see, bits everywhere, should be starting mine soon ( another one) full rebuild of a 2a. the pics are on ther way. glad to see yer doing a proper job, some restorations of a series landrover just consist of 5 ltrs of nato gree paint and a set of tyres. looking foreward to the rest of yer pics mate

Thanks for this really helpful post,

got my land rover series 11a yesterday and im going to start work on it as soon as possable,

where do you get your parts from?

H.S.

I may be telling you something you allredy know but it is best if you replave the main rear gearbox bearing with a sealed one, this will stop oil going from the main box into the transfer box, this is the main cause of oil on the handbrake

Hiya, i'm doing up a series 2-A as well, have you stripped the paint off the chassi yet? If you have what did you use? we were thinking of using paint stripper nd doing it ourselves...what do u reckon?

your lucky to have a chassi off a 2a with some paint left on it ! :p

For getting rid of old paint or other crap I have used either a twist knot wheel or a sanding disc on a small angle grinder, the twist knot wheel is better but not as fast, and use eye protection as the crap comes off in all directions.....good luck

This is great to see. Just got a SR2a which is on the road but could do with a bit of TLC. Not sue wether to strip the whole lot back during the winter.

Was looking to day to see how hard i thought it would be.

Where did you disconnect the electrics for the rear lights?

Also if i strip off the cab and front wings where in you opinion would be the best place to disconnect the electrics. Will i end up rewiring the whole thing
in end?

Any help would be good.
Cheers
Rob

you can get the full workshop manuel's for most "real" landrovers on ebay on a cd for about £1, i find them to be a real god send.

Just got a series 2, think it's going to be a little bit of a project.
