Yet more work done on the 90 - now the steering only feels vague (as it should), rather than feeling absolutely nothing for quarter of a turn whilst all the slack in the knackered ball joints and steering arm got taken up.....

And new wheels:

16" silver Wellers with 265/70 Nexen road tyres, rather than the 15" white Wellers which had a mix of BFG M/T & Falken A/T 235/75's on. Would really like a set of good M/T's but for now just having a decent set of matching tyres on the right size rims will do fine!

buy a matching gauge and sender... you could end up spending more on senders and gauges than one costs

i fitted a capillary gauge in the end

When I bought the 90 it came with a pair of Qt diff guards (unfitted). Decided to fit them today but got a bit stuck.

Does anyone know if the front one will fit with HD steering arms fitted? I took the two bolts out that used to hold the rear arm guard but could not slide the Qt guard in without it fouling the rear steering bar. I also suspect I'm missing a bracket to attach the top with, does anyone have a picture of one fitted?

A bit of woodwork for today:

I want a storage box on the nearside wheel arch, so for the grand total of £2 I got an offcut of 9mm MDF from B&Q. The nice lady in charge of their saw even cut a section off for this:

Wheel arch storage finished :) It's removable for when the carpet needs cleaning too. Gear surround is taking a bit longer, but hoping to finish it tonight.

Making progress with the gear lever surround:

Before I go much further I want to find some of the leather used on my cubby box to trim it in, so it matches. As I'd also like a new insert for the foam bit at the front of the cubby box I'm going to email Exmoor Trim and see if they'd do me an offcut as well as a new insert.

Bloody hell that gear sticks far back, surprised you don't have to dislocate your shoulder every time you want to change gear :D

Today, I installed the worlds pikeyest stereo:

I'm taking the 90 on an 800 mile trip on Tuesday, and I couldn't face it without some music to drive to. I really want a raptor dash console to mount my CD/USB/etc head unit but I can't afford one and i dont want to waste cash on a cheapo stereo holder (£20!) so I went into my big box of electrical crap and dug out a USB-powered speaker and a 3.5mm phono lead. All I needed to buy was the fag lighter USB charger. Music is from my iPhone.

Also changed the drivers seat base yesterday:

Yes, I know its black and the interior is grey. Eventually I'll replace it all with black. The old base was held together with duct tape and had a yellow car wash sponge and a child's t-shirt for padding.

I'm very surprised I didn't see a can of WD40 in any of those pics!! it's a must lol :) Nice to see someone doing the jobs to keep it on the road rather than breaking it.
