Hello,
I mated a strengthened ZF4HP22 Stage 2 (withZF4HP24 internals) from Ashcroft
to a Chevy 5.7 L engine,
fits perfect,
and also fits into my 1991 Range Rover Classic.

But the stock starter from my does not fit anymore to this combo.
Either the starter fits not well to the sprgocket or if I would change the sprocket it wouldn't match to the balanced flywheel of the engine.

Has anyone already experiences with this engine/transmission combo?

best regards

I read that Overfinch used this combination aswell - after they had used Chevy-trannys before (I think the TH700 and TH400 in earlier years).

best regards

I take it you have an adaptor plate between engine and gearbox/bell housing.

My 630R which is the same block as far as I know, has this starter on it.

Hope it helps, I have no idea of any other details as to what's behind.

One question and just to make sure:
Your transmission is the ZF transmission, not the Chevy transmission, right ?

As I have said I haven't had to dig in yet, but a quick goggle will show that number as a 5.7 SBC.

As to whether that looks like marjon's & will fit yours I have no idea - perhaps marjon might know!

It looks very similar:).

Also if you look here it show quite a few alternatives maybe;) DELCO REMY 10455702 Starter - Auto Part Info

It looks like this 1 NEW STARTER FITS CHEVROLET CORVETTE 8CYL 5.7L 1988-91 323-417 10455702 280-0299 | eBay

As OP seems to be talking about the RR starter I think that maybe the issue. It also seems to mount differently to what we normally expect;)

But the stock starter from my does not fit anymore to this combo.

But!!! what flywheel has he fitted? we dont know;). so many more details needed:). And maybe some pics:).

I wish him luck cos its a cracking engine, when lead footed:eek::D:D.

As, I know and see its the ZF box, think when they did the 630 and some previous models they kept it cos of the ecus that talk to each other:).

Some pics of your project would be great to see:).

It was only quick cos its over the pit at the moment, I was also measuring props for somebody else:).

The RRC in overfinch guise used the small block chevy and the GM 700r4 trans.

The P38 630r used the same 6.3 small block but with the 4HP24.
