Been told the prices for insuring a defender are way cheaper than a disco, is this true?
Yes.
Defenders are more likely to be stolen,
Bought a 2002 Disco in 2013 .. from a car dealer off Autotrader and despite spending £4,500 replacing both gearboxes , drive shafts ,springs etc the list has been endless . Decided to cut my losses and advertised it on Ebay .. sold to someone for £2,000 but this guy had more sense than me .he HPIed the car and discovered that it's a cat D write off and it happened in Spain . The car has more disguises than Scaramouch . It's the worst car that I have ever owned in thirty three years of motoring. I am going to do one of two things with it .. cut it up for spares .. so watch out for a new gearbox .over drive box engine etc or get it sign written warning the public why they are called 4 x4 .. because they are four times the price of everything else to repair !!
if only the same now ....2005 110 double cab, fully comp without any no claims discount £285 through Flux, seems a fair enough price to me.
