hi guys not been on for a while have been lurking though i have a series 2a and its a pig to start unless the battery is fully charged .but there seems to be a problem with the starter it seems very slow some times would it be worth geting it refurbed and are they known to draw the battery power down .oh and how long do you keep the heater plugs on for ie 10 or 20 secs before you try to start it they are the new type .its just i darnt us it as the battery seems to loose power so fast it a new battery cheers
 
I would check all cables, especially earth to the engine.
Try a jump lead from the engine block to the negative on the battery and see if it is any better.

Sorry cannot help with the Glow plugs question.

ok cheers mate think its an auto lec job therse only 3 fuses on it but the battery is draining somewhere

Is your battery definitely draining or is it lack of power to starter? If not the earth then check the main +ve feed to the starter. An old one can be quite corroded which ups the resistance and reduces the available power at the other end........which may explain why it will only turn over when battery is at peak.

You can check it by bypassing the cable with a jump lead
 
With the ignition off, disconnect the live - can you get the connector to spark? if you can you can see if there's actually any current drain with a multimeter set to current. Some ancilliary equipment uses current (some radios for example) but you can get leakage back through a faulty voltage regulator.
 
starter repaired .injectors done and its a flyer still lots to do put a least i can use it now thanks for the help
