Just got back home to Surrey after having Ian (aka Porny) do his stuff on it this morning.

WOW!

What a fantastic fella - not only did he agree to look at my landy at 8 o'clock this morning, but he'd done a 1st rate job of removing the ERG, and CAt and downloading his stage 1 remap for the ECU - see here.

All I can say is how impressed I am with Ian, his skills and knowledge but moreso his patience.
For those of you familiar with my infamous 'wiper blade' thread - you get an idea of how clueless I am.

I did offer to 'sod off' while Ian did his stuff, but he was happy to let me watch, and managed to keep calm and answer all my questions clearly:

'What's this for Ian?'
'You turn it and the wheels turn in the same direction - it's called a steering wheel'

That kind of thing.

The Defender is now a completely different beast - very responsive, pulls away surprisingly quick, got up to 95 on the M40 on the way home (I'm sure there was more in it, but I bottled it).
In 5th doing 70, press the accelerator and it still pulls away further - excellent.

Thank you Ian - be seeing you in October for those other bits, just try and sort out the music - there was a worringly large amount of Elton John and Communards on his PC, and when he suggested that we take it for a test drive ....

Porny - ian at IRBDevelopments.

mpg - hmm, haven't had time to check it yet.
Obviously, more fuel id being injected, but at the same time the turbo is doing a more efficient job.
Ian should be able to give a more accurate idea of mpg.
The emmissions, well the MOT only test for particulates, not NOx, COx so no problem there.
If the law on diesel emissions changes, I don't think that they will be able to retroactively enforce it on pre-new emissions criteria.

Is this thread a spam marketing effort-I've not a clue who the **** porny is, more to the point WTF

No not marketing, simply passing on my experience of excellent product backed-up by excellent custiomer service.
The product in this case relates directly to Land Rover defender,
so is this not a place where people with a similar interest in land Rover defenders can share their thoughts, ideas and experiences??

So when you type WTF you're either :
1. ignorant of what the tread is about - perhaps that's my fault for not explaining it properly, but there are better ways to ask 'what are you talking about' such as typing 'what are you talking about?'
or
2. f**king rude.

I think you seemed to assume that people know who Porny is......see thats the problem...no ones got a clue

I apologise - Porny is Ian's (at IRB) nickname on another LR forum. I believe/d that many people on this forum also know him.

The thread wasn't meant as a free marketing scam/spam, just wanted to share.
Sorry for any confusion caused.

Own up.......who knows him.:D:D:D

I know who Porny aka Ian @ IRD and I knew him before he started IRD he is a great bloke and never happier than been working on a Landy.

I have to say I'm a bit taken a back by some of the responses to this thread.

Why??? do you think this isn't Landyzone???

Don't take it the wrong way, but when there is no porny on this forum=WTF

I'm sure the chap is extremely good as you suggest, but you have to agree the "porned up defender 90" is looking for abuse:nospamhere:
