I've just gone through this with my jack Russel collie cross. I'm £2k poorer now. The vets bills are still mounting but it's down to £200 a month including her tablets.:(

I hope yours pulls through ok

ratty, no ass kissing honest but I take my bloody hat off to you, I would have done the same for my boy, pleased to know I'm not the only daft and soppy sod on here. Hope she's soon fully recovered. (respect smiley needed)

I should have said I will do the same if my boy becomes ill.

Me too :D

After a £3,000 bill for one of my horses (luckily insured) I insure the dog as well now, never bothered before.

Sorry to here you mut is in a bad way I know how difficult it can be and I hope he pulls through OK.
Shop around for insurance there are loads out there from Argos to Asda, read the small print for ongoing conditions etc. we have just paid out £800 for a scratched eye ball. our Nellie is always in the wars Also most medications can be purchased from some chemist (we use Manor) cheaper than the vets.
Do all you can for them as they do for you but don't let them down when the time comes to do the right thing.

Sad to read this. :(
You get very "attached" - they become like one of your kids almost.

Take care Mud Muppet... all the best to you.
and Really sorry for your loss.

Similar to the blue algae, and the anti-freeze... for the benefit af anyone who didn't know, dont give your dog raisins either.
Can kill them.
