This one had me stroking my chin:
200 LAND ROVER 90 WITH ALL TD5 TOP ,ENGINE,GEARBOX, CAB & BACK 200 CHASSIS | eBay
an F reg TD5? i wonder if they have all the receipts for those extra parts that have been used to 'convert' it, or was it perhaps converted to a TD5 by swapping the F reg plates onto a TD5 they had found lying around somewhere?
"I will post you a matchbox full of rusty metal if you want it to stay within ebay rules"
Looks too good to be F reg, no F reg bits to be seen as far as I can see. Complete later interior as well.
My project Disco 1 is to make it a pick-up/trayback, if I had managed to pick up a 1972 landy with buggered chassis and put it on my Disco chassis would I not be able to register it as a 1972 Landy? would I have to register it as my original Disco 1????
You would have to register it as a Discovery, as that is the chassis that you will be using. My project Disco 1 is to make it a pick-up/trayback, if I had managed to pick up a 1972 landy with buggered chassis and put it on my Disco chassis would I not be able to register it as a 1972 Landy? would I have to register it as my original Disco 1????
As a general rule of thumb, in order to keep an age related plate, you need to use either an original unmodified chassis, or a replacement that is an exact copy of the original, and at least 2 other major components. On a Land Rover, the body is not considered as a major component. If you use a chassis that has been modified in any way, or you don't use enough original major components, the the vehicle must be subjected to an IVA or SVA and VOSA will either issue an age related plate, or a Q plate. A useful guide can be found here http://www.minimag.co.uk/files/2011/08/inf262.pdfI thought that was the case, mine is still going to be a Disco anyway but it was something that crossed my mind as I know of a couple of old boys that run 1960's Series 2's on Range Rover Classic chassis, I was even thinking to buy one already done but will now steer clear knowing I might loose it to the old bill, thanks guys
No I bought the car from a land rover enthusiast in derby, my dad owned a garage in Yorkshire and came with me to inspect the chassis numbers and things, the td5 parts came off a 2004 land rover and was fitted by the last owner.
