The plate in the engine bay states 3050kg gvw

Logbook states 3499kg gvw

Light utility 4x4 110

all other numbers match up as they should, which do i go by? the later i hope....
 
Any ideas? Assumed it was a hicap due to having the hicap springs etc, we use it for work so this is buggin me now. I believe it was ex utility.
 
Go by plated weight. The log book figures are more to do with taxation class (which have changed resulting in Landys getting weighed at MOT time)

AGH, wrong reply! the 110 NEEDS to be able to take 3500kg legally. how can i get this changed or sorted if the above is the case?

See this is what i dont get, It has all the HD bit's i believe, its on logbook as 3500kg but not the plate, about to invest best part of 4k into to make another work truck ( tree surgery) but before I do I wanted to make sure of weights as will need the full 3500kg legally.

Assuming it has all the hicap//HD bits needed I believe it can be replated.

Apart from the suspension, is the chassis from 110 to 110 hicap the same? Bear in mind the rear tub wont be there and replaced with an alloy tipping highsided buck.
 
the weight stated on the plate is the total all fully loaded weight inc driver and any passengers,this is what a copper will go on if you are stopped and weighed,if you are over this you will be fined(no points tho)and made to unload it untill you are under the stated weight limit before you can go any further on.
 
If the vehicle started life as a 110 hicap then its plate should say 3500kg , as the 110 standard is 3050 (unlevelled version ) that is with no boge hydramat unit underneath. With levelling its only 2950. I am not certain if VIN actually contains that info. You could try contacting Land rover to get what your vehicle was built as. With that info you would then just need to do a paper exercise with dvla . If that is not possible then you will need to find out what other than the springs were changed by landrover for a 3500kg rather than 3050kg . HTSH

I just hit a problem with my 110's MOT as the test station wanted to do a Class VII ("seven") MOT, a bit of a shock, and searching here I found this post:

I phoned DVLA and they suggested I show them the log book which on mine reads 3499kg, which I believe is Class VII.

Coming home I found this post: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/1062109-post22.html very informative but I am not sure why the 110 is different (as per that post). I haven't been able to check my VIN plate.
 
Yeah i also found that post while looking for info last night. Seems going is simple but I fear going up may be a pain.

Im not fussed about the small extra MOT cost as my other vehicles come into that bracket anyway.

I had the same problem as this with the 3499kg weight on the V5. I sent off the V5 to the DVLA with a covering letter and a copy of the one of the Haynes manual pages where I'd highlighted the correct weight. They updated the V5 and sent it back.
