I bouhgt and am fixing my Landy for traveling and right from begining I have been told by nearly everybody who saw it (none of these people ever drove a land rover) that this is not the right car for traveling.

So for the sake of reputation of landy owners everywhere please post picures of your travels (with the truck in it) and include how many miles/km.

I would really enjoy showing these to my doubting friends and you can refresh some sweet memories.
Thanks a million in advance and may your maps be as folded and beat up and full of marks as you want it to be.
i have done the same - bought an old series 3 and plan on travelling over the alps in it next year, everyone says i should have bought a discovery but to me the landrover i've always wanted is a series or defender:cool: i know they arn't as refined but i dont care!
after i've been on my trip i'll look back to this thread and post my pics but as of yet my landy has only done about 50 miles.................. on the back of a trailer:D

As long as they are mechanically dependable series trucks should be great for travelling. They are not that uncomfortable. Seat can be modified to make the backrest adjustible (for long trips that would be a good idea) and if you can get the heater work a little better (for Alps that is) and add a badly needed cup holder :) . One drives slower and see more things. Looking forward to seeing pictures.
