If none of the above sorts the problem, check the wire that clips to your fuel solonide, I have the same engine as you and a while back the wire came loose inside the connector on the solonide and as I drove it was fine for a bit then it cut out (no smoke or funny noises) it would start just fine then go again. This probberbly isn't your problem but it's worth checking.

Update!

Sat in bridgewater, no issues getting here, whatever it was has hopefully cleared itself .

I have the biggest grin on my face and as i walk back to the landy from the services I get a flutter inside everytime I see her.

Trundles along at apprx 65 so got an hour or so before home and I have been apologizing to everyone for flashing them everytime I indicate.

Hopefully the rest of the journey will be uneventful and BTW, anyone else get a.sore elbow resting it on the door frame?

Cheers all for the advice

Ive a distinctive difference in tan between my left and right arms because of this :D haha

I sold my S3 about 3 years back and my arms have just about become the same colour:D.

I still miss the noisy, rattling, slow, thirsty, old bitch though:(:(

couple of junctions away from me:D well done

hehe, finally home and what a small adventure it was.

After the small ( although i was thinking bollox, what have i bought ) with the fuel/loose wire scenario i continued all the way home with no problems.

Motorway was fine, 65-70 all the way, although a few large hills ( if you've ever been to the end of the M5 you'll know about telegraph hill and what i mean ) had me in 3rd and climbing but she did very well at it, plenty of torque.

The slight delay in steering wheel movement to actual movement of the Landy is something i'll get used to no doubt, but those around me must have thought i was falling asleep at times the way i weaved about.

Here's a few pics i took in Micheal Woods service's:

I'll take a few more tomorrow of the front, not sure why i didn't do it then...

A few small bits need immediate attention, mainly the instrument panel has no lighting, this is fine for the motorway as i can't exceed the speed limit without a huge hill and a force 10 gale up my arse, but in rural areas, it would be nice to see the speed n such.

Oil remained at 2 whilst driving, engine temp was fine and volts were in the 14 all the way home.

To sum up, driving the Landy is similar to riding a bike. I've ridden and built/worked on bikes most of my life and the feeling i get when driving this is the same, it's difficult to describe, but the internal grin i had all the way home is still with me ;)

Again thanks to all for the tips with getting me out of trouble as tbh i woulda been abit stuck but pointing out the fuel filter etc got me started in the right direction.

Cheers all :tea:

Great news mate, that looks a pretty tidy motor. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we all do, even when they conk out, Welcome to the loonyzone.

Ahhhh i wondered what that did, next to the well used hazard light switch, thanks for that, saved me an awful lot of fiddling about trying to get them to work! Is there a modification to get them to work with the headlights, i'll give it a search later.

Thanks Ben, i paid £2000 for her and after spending a while searching the bay, i'm quite pleased with this one, the owner wasn't really interested in her anymore, he had just purchased a ford ranger, so she was waiting to go.

Wet right leg, deafness, viberation whitefinger, steering wheel grove in his stomach because the seat won't go back, sore throat from shouting over the engine noise, soiled pants because there is **** loads of play in the steering so he's playing pinball between the central reservation and hard shoulder after hitting a pothole, disrupting air traffic because of an 19j equivalent ash cloud, repainting White lines black with engine oil. And all that whilst being towed.

After the journey and a cup of coffee, i went to bed only for 20 minutes later to burst out laughing at your post above D.G.F.S, sad but true ;)
