I have a p38 4.6 and am thinking of changing to the L322 my concern is that the 3.0 diesel will be sluggish wondered if anyone could tell me how thet compare - for general driving and light offroad tracks and fields

I migrated from a 4.6 P38 to a 4.4 L322 a few years ago.

L322 feels like a "modern" car. It is more refined and the engine is more responsive. P38 is smooth, but L322 is sublime!

I have heard good things about the diesel options, but can't comment, as I've never driven one.

Thanks for that Garioch thats what I wanted to know is the steering more responsive and less sloppy?

Sounds like the way to go looking at the 3.6 d and the supercharged 4.2 thanks for the info

If you're thinking about the 3.6 TDV8 test drive it. I had an RRS TDV8 for a bit and it's a stonking engine. Very smooth. So far removed from the 2.5 in a P38 it's unbelieveable. I've not personally driven the later petrol engines.
