I just fitted a Dashcam with a hardwire kit and was struggling to find a completely free fuse space on an ignition start slot.

BTW: Top tip is Wickes sell a great Torx key set (like a foldout Allen Key set) that has the T30 needed to get the door pillar moulding off the 2012 FL2 and it isn't showing on the web site so you might need to go and look in person if you want one.

After a while I found that some of the spots in the manual that show a blank description actually had fuses in them and I ended up using F5 which had a 10A fuse in place to put the hardwire kit for the Dashcam in.

Anybody know if there is actually anything using that fuse or was the 10A in there as a spare..? There are a few others that are undocumented in the handbook and by choice I would have gone with something like the cigarette lighter fuse to piggy back but that's in the engine compartment box. I just really want to hedge my bets that there's nothing essential on that slot.. I guess they would make it plain if there was anything critical there but I'm guessing somebody here might know for sure

Actually, if anybody wants the Torx set link they mislabelled it and it's under Hex keys on their website.

Yer would be betterer to follow the cover on the fuse box for what fuse does what. Front cig lighter socket is fuse F52 in the fuse box behind the glove box. Some changes were made over the years so best to check yer fuse cover.

Cheers mate, yeah the fusebox cover also shows that fuse to be unused but as mentioned it did have a 10A fuse in it already.

Interesting. When yer pull out passenger F52 does the front cig lighter socket stop working?

Yeah, I didn't mean F52 in that box.

I'm trying to identify F2 in the passenger compartment box below the glove box.. that's the one that I'm currently using because it comes on with the ignition but it's not labelled on the diagram on the box lid or in the owners manutla.

I don't think position passenger F2 is used.

Sorry, it was F5 I'm looking to identify and that doesn't appear in the manual or box cover.

Passenger F5 is listed as "slip control module" in the manwell and has an abs logo on the box cover, 5 amp fitted

engine F5 isn't used

The ABS on the 2012 Freelander 2, according to my manual and cover off the passenger compartment box, is F3 not F5.

As I said that fuse, even though it's present (F5) has nothing recorded in the manual or on the box lid.

which lists passenger fuse:
F2 ans F3 as ABS
F5 not used

It could be a case someone has put a fuse in F5 on yours when it's not needed. It could be LR made a mistake. Does anything strange happen when the fuse is removed?

yer find they split the 6 page fuse section into separate pages. The passenger fuse box is ere:

which lists passenger fuses as:
F2 not used
F5 slip control module (propper name abs)

Ere's a pic of a 64 plate FL2 for reference. As said earlier they made changes to the fusing/wiring over the years. We need someone with pic's of a UK spec 2012 FL2 or a volunteer with access to one to have a look for us.

I didn't do any exhaustive tests but when I removed the fuse in F5 no warnings started occurring so I guess I should probably be happy that it isn't critical

For completeness here's the cover off this fuse box in my car..

and here's the actual fuse box with the piggy back hardwire kit in place.. it looks a little like it's in F3 in this pic but it's deffo in F5, the bit that's over F4 and F3 are the right angle fuse assemblies in the hardwire probe that have a 0.5A fuse for the Dashcam Hardwire and the original 10A fuse taken out of F5.

BTW, I like the look of the 64 plate box better, there's some nice convenient bolts just to the side that would make a good earth patch. I had to take the black wire behind the glove box and secure it to a nut I found at the top to get to an easy earth point.
