Never buy britpart bolts!

This large U bolt was for the spring plate which holds the axle to the spring.....now I'd guess it broke at about 45ft/lbs given that my torque wrench was beginning to move the clicker ever so slightly and it felt a little tight.
The torque setting on these is meant to be 58ft/lbs which isn't even a huge amount! I use a Britool wrench and its been calibrated recently so theres nothing wrong with that or the setting as I tightened up the original bolts on the other side of the axle no problem with it.

Fecking ****part strikes again! Never use them for anything important no matter how small it is  oh just for reference too this was the heavy duty 109 1 tonne bolt because I needed a slightly longer one for the range rover axle!

just goes to show that with things that important to saving life,
oh, and a fender, buy wisely...

just think how your emergancy stop would have done if said clamp had decieded to let go..

I wont mention the torque reaction being transmitted from a rediculas 7.03 engine ;)

If you know the size and thread of the bolt or setscrew go to your local Caterpillar dealer.
They will sell to you. Guaranteed not to break. When working we ran a mixed fleet of earthmoving equipment and always used Cat bolts and nuts as replacements.
Cost a wee bit more, but fit and forget

These are U bolts, I tried truck shops and the tractor place too but they didn't have anything in the right size/shape

When I mucked about with series I always made my own u bolts cause I didnt trust pattern ****, just make a former and draw tool about a hours work but when youve made your u bolts you can use it to knock out recovery hoops;)
