??????????????????????????????????????????????????

not a clue mate... good luck wiv it though...

hope ya get it sorted.. parkwood wont be the same wivout ya...

Hi Nick. Yeah. gutted.
Just been back out this morning before work. Ironically it runs and idles perfectly from cold....then starts to 'pulse' on the idle (and throttle) big time as it gets warm. The pulsing suggests to me the ECU is doin battle with a dodgy sensor.
I've ruled out the MAF (got a new one spare n didn't make a difference)
Suspect coolant or fuel temp sensors (neither of them I have spares for! dou)
Still could be air leak into intake opening up when warm I guess....but I'm not gonna start taking apart 'til I've properly checked sensors

Car is virtually undriveable. feels like its perfect, then no power, then perfect, then no power.......if were at all driveable I'd be seeing ya there tommorroz.

Oh well, these things happen...just the timing of this that has caught me out. bugger!

shame mate...

hope ya get it sorted without too much difficulty..

tel rob off m8... if he had bought one ya coulda jumped in wiv him....

Too right!. He seemed fed up he wasnt going.
Well. It seems to be the coolant sensor (some seem to call it a thermistor etc, but basically the one that feeds back to the ECU, not just the console/gauge one). Got a replacement ordered n on its way:doh:
It did cross m mind whether to rob the one out the daily driver....but then thought better of it if by some unlucky chance it could lead to two dead RR lol:rolleyes:

Hav a good one. see ya next time mates:(

wasn't gonna do tong today... v tired... but ended up goin... bit dry.. was like a dust bowl... not as much fun... full of posers wives all the gear driving blue routes.. non working winches just for bling.. only go in summer when It's dry... maybe I'm just tired and bad tempered so I'll shut up now....

Sorry I couldn't join ya mate. Sorry to hear it wasn't up to much today.:(
However, I've heard that whilst it is warm n dry today, forecast is pants for June July. bit of a wash-out apparently....so with a bit of luck we'll have a wet summer!:D
Spent the day today doin some jobs on the off roader I been meaning to do for a while (as well as putting some colour dye stuff on a seat leather scuff in the green daily driver)...waiting on the coolant sensor, so hopefully will be up n running again to accompany ya next time mate.

still tired... just got in from work....

was drivin round the woods on blacks following johnny n mark.. didnt even realise i didnt have diff lock on.. but i have raised my rear bumper a bit more.. rear door catchin it now.. gonna have to sort that out...

the tow bar was grounding on everythin and i think its pushed up the bumper..

ouch!:(

the ground so dry it was really solid... every drop off was like drivin over a wall... couldt plough through it like mud...

those 3 mud holes at the bottom with the logs at the start were dry... no standing water in em... still full of semi solid mud but no water....

however johnny found a new one to try.. was ok goin down but had to winch himself out when he tried to go up it...

get rid of the tow bar nick, mine came straight off,god fed up with it grounding

just watchin a tow bar on ebay..

lots smaller mount than mine... need towbar for trailers etc..

the standard one is like a plough....

dont think i'm gonna make it this month.. need to sort my rear body mounts out..

and after some toys to add on... so need to save some pennies....

cant see you gettin there joe... not gonna get ya injun sorted by next sunday me thinks...

he thinks head gasket leakin betwen two pots..

was gonna swop em at wekend but found the spare head gaskets he had were a bit corroded..

orderin some composite ones to use instead...

Yep, sorted the engine idle issue with codes read n changed the coolant sensor then swaped over to an ECU that wasn't rusty!...all was well.......then I blew a head gasket....
Finally got all the gaskets and a new torque wrench I can trust...so cracked on today n finished it!!! YIPEE,,,,thats the good news...:)

Bad news is....The low fuel light has been on and I had it running for the longest time purging all the air out of the coolant system then warming it all up to pressure n check see I'd done up hoses etc tight enough for no leaks.....so, I'm playing at blipping the throttle and seeing how smooth it is, let it idle...go in for a mug of tea and a smoke, leaving it to idle...then I hear it stall!...

In my own stupidity I've let it run out of fuel!...so off to the local petrol station with a can. Poured it straight into the tank.....its churns over, but didn't start. So closed the bonnet and packed the tools away.

If I could kick my own arse for being so stupid n letting it run out of petrol, i would do!:frusty::frusty::frusty:

At work tommorrow, so cant make Tong on sunday as I'll probably be messing around getting rid of an air lock/changed pump/kicking nextdoors dog etc!!!!

It'll start as soon as it primes up Joe.

Just keep on cranking with an efi til it fires up, or turn the ignition on and off loads of times to run the pump - this should circulate plenty of fuel.

A petrol engine doesn't usually need bleeding, and certainly not an efi landy.

Cheers.

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, it had been a long day, wasn't just the head gaskets done, but a lot of messing about too, so I'd just had enough. Thinking about it, yes, lecky fuel pump, raised fuel tank and a fully charged battery by tommorrow morning... I've every confidence I will get it started n running sunday. just needs a good run to test out everything:rolleyes:
cheers

hope it all works out joe, good luck with it bud,,

Well. All good news, yep, a bit more cranking and it fired up lovely. Much smoother than it ever was before n idles better too. Did another sniff test n its all good, no more combustion gases in coolant.....revved the asre off it on a drive up to Robs, ran fine.
Got back, did a code read on the replacement ecu, no faults. The coolant sensor defo needed replacing before, but i think the gaskets were probably on there way out anyways, which didn't help in terms of the idling.

Feeling good about it all, I've just started mounting the rock slider/ tree bars. Took the plastic trim off the sills to reveal not much metalwork underneath (but lots of mud!).. nearly got the first one on, but taking much longer as rebuilding the sill outers at the same time... Ho hum...will get there in the end.
