Hi, need you guys expert sounding and advice regarding connecting the pacet fan which I purchased for my disco 300tdi. I have the fan but not the thermostat or wiring, and I need to know which water pipe and the size of it, needed for this electric wiring kit I intend purchasing from MSE performance.

Keep on rockin, or slip sliding or roll-over which ever takes your fancy :)

Would do if I was home, but unfortunately am half way round the globe on an adventure, and the garage is questioning top hose or bottom, and MSE performance has multiple sizes for what I need. So if any one can give me an internal diameter of this top water pipe, would be grateful.

if that were me, i would shout at the man at the garage " LEAVE THE ****ING THING ALONE I'LL GET A PROPER MECHANIC THAT KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING TO LOOK AT IT WHEN I GET BACK" but thats just the way i am ;)

am still reeling under the shock!!! you're 1/2 way round the world , yer bus is in a garage that employs mechanics that don't know where to put a rad thermostat.
they're asking you where to put it and then you're askin us..
and they can't figure out how to measure it, to boot

for once i have to agree wiff yella

whaddya mean fer once, yer always agreeing wiv me, except when it comes to the bowling results ;)

Well i thought there were some sensible people using and helpful on this forum, but now since reading some more of the forum, it seems i was wrong, it seems to have some ecotistic people who love nothing better than to show their small intelectual side.

To clarify my issue, am in the mountains of afghan, car is in the north of Finland, not many disco savy mechanics in this part of the world, and all i asked was which pipe and internal size, that's all, but thanks a bunch, now know to try some other forum, where i maybe can get an answer.

I have been using this forum for the last month or so and personally think it's the "Dog's what knot's"!!:)
Maybe it's the question ?

Take it you have never been on a "car" forum where the only help usually offered is about alloy wheels or how many coats of wax we have on today!!!

Jeez.......I refer you back to my first question, if that isn't straight forward enough I don't know what is. I have an issue that needs sorting before the winter sets in, -30-40C, and it is not something I want my family having a problem with while i'm away.
As for the forum bit, have been around the forum scene a while and usually get some sound advice, not snidy comments that are worth jack ****!

what a ****! you got yer answer and a very quick answer at that.. if you don't like it then get one of the mechanics from finland to tell you.
or how about one of the many REME mechanics that are in alf ghan a stan. some of them might know a thing or two about landrovers

you are you really as dense as you seem??
the top fookin hose, not the bottom, one the top fooker..you know the one that is near the top of the engine.. in case yer mechanics dunt know , thats the big lumpy thing under the bonnet. the hose goes from the top of there to the radiator ( thats the thing with fins on it and water in it)
if any one there can work a screw driver get them to remove the top hose and using a thing called a ruler they can then measure the size of it.

or do you want a drawing?

ah know what a plonker come here askin dumb questions then get all heet up cos it too simple fer him... in his case ah think ecotistical mean..
ECo ..being economic
tistical...... probaby Finish fer testicle
so he either has very small balls or just the one.

perhaps if he measured his penis it would be the correct size for his top hose diameter.

Egotistic :"person who considers themselves to be better or more important than other people":

Have another read through your postings! "half way round the globe on an adventure" "mountains of afghan" "north of Finland" "winter of -30-40C"!!

Did'nt know jack's could ****!

that reminds me i have to go to the garden center fer to get some stuff for me roses.

Tommin, don't worry about the nasty boys, they was only trying to help in thier own innimitable manner.

Now m8, Pacet fans come with a thermocouple which goes inside the top hose. they're not really to be reccomended because the sometimes cause the hose to leak at its joint. Your much better off using a remote thermostat in its own housing. these are available from X-enginnering complete with a high/low range thrmostat ib them. They turn on a primary low temperature fan at 80 od degrees and a high temperature fan at around 90ish degrees. You'll need to get your obviously skilled mechanics to wire the fan through a relay though. If you are planning on purchasing an in-line thermostst housing locally then the i/d of the hose is 38mm.

I hope that helps.

But now to get back on thread.

If the temperature is -30 to -40 degrees, what the **** do you need a fan for? If the wind-chill isn't enough to cool the radiator whilst your driving then may I suggest you get that bunch of moronic ****s you refer to as mechanics to look elsewhere for the problem.

Now, why don't you carry on with your "adventure" and get the **** out of here you humourless ****.
