I know these things are as rare as hens teeth, but has anyone got any pics of the factory winch plate kit NOT fitted to a rangey, i.e one that shows the actual parts? An online search revealed nothing so I wonder if someone might have one of their own or from a catalogue.

Of course replies from anyone who knows where I can get hold of one of these mythical items will also be very gratefully recieved.:D
 
Yeah I've already seen those, but I wanted to keep the stock bumper. I've also seen several very neat custom builds, but my fab and welding skills and facilities are pretty weak, but I thought if I had a good pic to work from I could design something similar that I could get someone else to fab.

I know that you have to have the a-bar or bull bar fitted, but it can't mount on to that as the brackets certainly aren't up to the job! I presume that it must go on to the fronts of the chassis rails or the front cross member, but I can't figure how it ends up in front of the bumper.:confused2:

Given the number of posts from people lookiing for a winch mount for the P38 I also can't understand why no enterprising person hasn't already knocked a copy out. Apparently WARN did one (possibly this is where the factory design came from:confused:) but it doesn't seem to be listed now.

Ive got one fitted, will try and take some pics in the morning and post them.
Give me a day or 2.
 
I have a BRAND NEW, NEVER FITTED, P38 WINCH MOUNT AND, wait for it, a Warn 9000 winch which Land Rover intended to be used on these winch mounts. The Warn 9000 used to be on my Nissan Patrol and I haven't used it for years, so would need a good service etc, but the P38 Winch Mount is brand new, intended for my P38 but never wanted to modify the front bumper to fit it!!!

I'll put it on ebay at some stage, when I have time to take some pics etc, unless its sold privately beforehand. Its the official Land Rover model for the P38 as in the Accessories book for the time.

Let me know if interested. Given its rarity I may resort to auction to give everyone a fair chance!!!!
 
I got an exploded diagram printed out by landrover parts dept, but I lost it... So I'll go and get another one and see if I can get someone to turn the paper picture into computer picture so I can post it on here, I am not capable of such witchcraft... It was an exploded diagram of the kit including all the parts brackets etc etc
 
I put the pics in an album called winch mount so you all can look at it. Again I just took the pics out of the internet.

My local stealer was most unhelpful, didn't even suggest that he could print out a diagram! just said the mount wasn't available anymore and that was that. A copy would be most welcome.
 
I'll pop over and ask him to print it out again, he said its no longer available but worth ringing round as its the kindof thing they'd have sat on the shelf gathering dust in the odd dealership, but its over a grand list price, the dealers is about four villages away so I'll have to wait til I'm out that way (series one is doing all the work at the minute my p38's got a poorly tummy) so itll take me a good hour to get there! No probs I'll get him to print another set, anything else you want while I'm there? I got the diagram with the idea of making one but I couldn't work out which bit went where and so on, if you can work it out let me know and I'll make some I want to put one on mine, but keep the factory bumper
 
That would be great thanks, but don't go out of your way, there's no rush, just leave it till your passsing them next.
 
I know a good Fab guy who is going to make one for me. I have a PDF of the Original Landrover Fitting Guide, just need to make a pettern up now, looks straightforward enough. PM me with your email address and I'll send you the PDF.

Thanks for the offer. I've got a set of fitting diagrams now, just need to either find one for sale or fab my own version if I can find the time.
