Is it manual? If so most likely cause is the DMF. Otherwise, engine mounts? Does it idle on all cylinders and at 850rpm?

yes its a manual, its the engine that vibes ,it ticks over at 850
whats a DMF:confused:

I'd say 90% certain it's the DMF, (dual mass flywheel) It's a well known failure on all sorts of vehicles from my Transit to VW transporter to P38's:eek:

I have the same, changed the crank pulley, the one that came off was in a poor state, but it didn't make much difference.

I've thought about the engine + gearbox mounts, they must harden over the years, they are cheap to buy but the right hand side looks a bugger to replace...

I've read elsewhere that dirty injectors give a rough idle on a straight 6-cyl, but thought would be an expensive experiment to have them refurbished (~£200).
