Hi ppl just wondering about the fuel senders in tank is there any difference between the 4.0 and 2.5 apart from one petrol and one diesel ? And connections ?

with my ongoing fuel troubles and replacing everything in the system bar this sender, I am looking to cut the hatch out the back floor to replace old unit. But with mine being the 4.0 p38 with 300tdi am unsure if this has been changed to suit in the conversion process .

So should I cut hatch remove unit and just buy same unit or would the diesel one be better and fit thanks .
 
Drop tank to do sender and check the brake lines while its down they have a habit of rusting and easier to do with tank out.

thanks for reply . I will be doing work on road out side don’t think I have enough clearance to drop tank . On my own . Is it a simple task
 
I have not had to do mine yet but its on my list as some of the brake pipes dont look to good, so cant say how easy it is all i know is easier the less fuel is in it.

Yes, couple of bolts. Hardest thing is the rubber connecting the tank to the filler. I just cut mine and replaced it as it it was old and perished. No need to follow RAVE to the letter as there is just enough room to get in there.

On later models the brake lines go behind the tank. This seems to rot them a lot quicker so if you have a twin exhaust then best drop the tank. Empty it is light. Full it certainly isn't.

Thinks pump is same for petrol and diesel but best check part numbers on Rimmers or similar.

ok thanks matey think I will go the tank out option , check brake lines and have a look at changing the filler to diesel from the petrol on it does me head in trying to fill her up . Just clicks off .

and that’s good news on the tank sender al just replace with what comes out .
 
Pumps are different units petrol and diesel.

ok that’s interesting , I will just replace what comes out then it’s Been working even if it is the original petrol one still in there from the conversion. I know it’s still the petrol filler size it drives me mad

The rubber hose connector won't fix that! Interesting car this!
