By the way, does anyone know the correct ride-height measurements please? I used the search facility but was feeling somewhat frustrated with all the highly technical threads about sensors, blocks, diagnostics, blah blah blah...
All I would like is the perpendicular measurements from wheel centre to wheel arch at normal and raised settings, using that marvellous tool called a tape measure. As mentioned above, the display shows full height, including the light in the speedo pod, but it doesn't look particularly high to me.

Was that expensive? Is it main dealer only? So I just go to the parts dept. and ask for a marked wooden stick,yes? The genuine JLR part of course :D

Not seen that diagram before, should be put in tech section imo.
I can now measure my heights see where I’m at, if suspension has dropped with age I won’t be able to fit new tyres of same size when it comes to it
 
Measuring with a rod from the ground is all well and good if the ground is level and all tyres are standard and correctly inflated according to specs. Standard tyres with little wear, 28 PSI front and 38 PSI rear. Any other scenario is better measured on level ground from wheel centre to lip of wing. Measurements are plus or minus 7 mm side to side to maintain bit count on sensors within 2 bits side to side, rear bit count can exceed this slightly but front is critical.
 
I've had some bizarre things happen when working on cars, but this is the first time I've had a neighbour's dog run off with a bolt I'd just put down. Little f***er. Have to root through the garage now. Anyone know what size the bolt that holds the bottom retaining clip on the front airbag is?

You'll need to ask for a long stand aswell:p

I measure from the centre of the wheel to the arch with the stick standing on the ground. as you say the ground needs to be level but as there is a scribe mark for the hub centre it's easy enough to judge any small error.

I set 30psi all round,
let rears cooper pros down to 28 seemed to handle better? - Will try pumping rears up more see if it’s better.
2psi extra in front Insas seem to handle better at speed
 
I run mine at 2.4-2.5 bar.
Don't forget tyres have advanced since these machines were first designed and will have some differences to the originals but there are reasonable limits.:)

Reason for differential in pressure front to rear is to keep the viscous coupling primed.
