Hi people well this is my first day into my P38 range rover ownership and and i knew my car needed some work when i bought it but its very low miles good history and mechanically seems very good how ever as it a 13 year old car even though its done 49,000 miles its still in need of oa few jobs doing etc...

Hope its nothing to much to worry about...

LIST...

1. Cruise control doesnt seem to be working dash switch lights up but thats about it....

2. Throttle pedal feels stiff to press down or very heavy feel ??

3. Sunroof is disconnected as previous owner says it works great going back but wont come forward unless you use the winder maual with key to turn it...also has warning sunroof not set on turning ignition on..

4. Heated seats not working both sides...

5. Drivers headrest electric wont move up or down, but can hear motor and a grinding type clicking noise...

6. Possible Battery drain issue not happend to me et but previous owner said it only happens to him when he is at home, he was told its his electric garage door draining the power as its a remote one, i think and took this diagnosis as total bollocks like and assume it has the fault just not acccured yet to me etc..

7. Headlining starting to sag at rear

8. CD autochanger seems dead as a dodo wont do anything....

And that seems about it other than a good valet to get it to my standard of clean, and a service....

Oh its a 2000 model 4.6 Hse

whats peoples thoughts have a bought a pile of poop..

6) not bollocks, RF receiver needs replacing. Search RF receiver.
The rest is normal for an LR product

5) I didn't even know they had electric headrests. That explains why I couldn't find a release clip for moving mine :)

Heated seats are fragile and elements break easily well documented on here. Search. Fixes available.

Rf receiver well documented on here. Search.

Headlining fix available on here. Search.

Somebody tried manually moving the headrest and probably broken something inside, not an easy fix. Download rave manual.

Sunroof fixes on here well documented. Search

Throttle pedal. 2.2 tonne 4x4 so probably normal if your used to driving any other cars. Try the clutch on a manual p38 and you will know what stiff feels like.

Done some investigation work today didnt get far like...

Cd autochanger = is dead as a dodo dont make a sound or eject or nowt, cant seem to find a positive at the cd changer end on the cable ethier ??

Cruise control = found a split pipe where the vac hose goes through the fire wall repaired it, but still aint working...unless fitting a metal sleeve between the two bits of vac hose is stopping it grafting now ??

SUNROOF = wierd one this checked fuse ok... motor was disconnected so plugged it in and tried to work it from buttonm i could hear the motor working but not moving the roof both ways,i wound if forward as per manual and then wound it back 1/4 turn, tried it and hey presto sunroof goes back and forward and tilts pefect but its still not fixed ?? What its doing is this..i tried to do the SET SUNROOF thing wind back then forward keep pressed till it tilts and stops and hold wait for beep to confirm setting proceedure complete but it never happens also the sunroof wont park in the closed position you have to sort of guess when its shut and let go or the roof just goes straight into the tilt operation but when you fanny around and have the glass level with the roof ie shut but the warning display when removing the key states sunroof not set and then going to sunroof open ??? when its clearly not.... does that make sense ???????

position the sunroof in the shut position and then remove the sunroof motor but leave it plugged in,operate the switch in one touch mode(forward or reverse) the motor will run for a few seconds and then stop by itself.refit the motor to the sunroof and hopefully your problem will go away.i think the motor gets out of synch with the actual position off the sunroof.

If that's the list I'd count you as lucky! Most are easy fixes or quick replacements. The sunroof is a bit of b**tch, at least I'm struggling with mine now. Would be interested to hear how you get along.

The sunroof could also have one of the plastic bits inside the rails broken, or is just dirty enough to fool the trap sensor that something is trapped... connect the motor and try operation yourself, observing the left and right rails/guides for any signs of the fecker getting stuck.
