Any idea how many sensors are on the cylinder head and does the oil filter housing have a plastic or ally head? Also, the part number on the FIP should end 994.

If you remove the fuel filter and bridge the fuel lift-pump relay then you should get a certain amount of fuel in 30 sexonds. Cannot remember the amount but it is in Wammer's post in the Technical Section. I doubt that's it tonbe honest but it is an easy thing to rule out.
thanks - been in Norway so not replied - Ill look at the oil filter housing tomorrow . It does have metal inlet manifold not plastic though.. does that make it an older engine? It was a replacement..

Yes, alloy manifold older engine, no MAF.
 
The omega ran an egr with the Ali inlet. The studs are of a different pattern to the head. Elliotts got one on his 2000my that came off my old omega 2.5tdi. His cyl head was already drilled for either fitting. 馃憣

Replacements heads are drilled for either fitting.
