I only one of you guys had driven a JE Engineering P38 with a watt linkage in the back....
I'm going to replicate the system on my rear axle, that thing is so good to have if you got a V8 under the bonnet!!

You want to modify it so you can and i quote "Make good progress" without the rear end feeling loose. If you are driving fast enough to get that impression you are driving to fast. Driven normally there is nothing wrong with the rear end. For a big car they handle quite well. Yet you want to mod it so you can drive faster, because of some tin pot qualification, you somehow think your perceived superiority gives you the right to fly around like a complete idiot. Sense comes at all ages obviously it missed you out.

although i have to admit the thought of trying to tune the handling of a 2 1/2 ton brick is amusing.....

Wouldn't be amusing if the idiot lost it "making progress" down a country road if you were going in the opposite direction. The mans on a bloody ego trip. Because he's passed some tinpot test. :(:(

Having read this whole thread I have to admit I'm a little confused.

I've completed manh driving courses in my line of work, an it would appear that a main word was lost from many statement, Safe...

Range rover is a 4x4, its very good for its build and spec. But, its no x5 or q7. Main point has to be the range rover sport I guess.

The design of the p38 will ultimately lead to some interesting limit handling, if you wanna rag it. Do it somewhere with a big run off, so you can safelyslide to a stop on the roof..

A rear anti rollbar won't alleviate the weight and cofg.
 
Occasionally I drive it enthusiastically on the roads - the steering feels nice, but the rear feels loose. I think the rear ARB will make the rear match the good front end feel.

I used to feel the back end bounce about a bit/skittish at higher speeds when I had the original bags fitted, but since I fitted the Gen IIIs it has gone away. As the blurb says, the motor-way ride height has firmed up big time compared to what it was like.

If you think about it, if the P38s did ok with what they were fitted with with the skittish handling, it should be more than ok with the firmer suspension. I would try it out a bit with the Gen IIIs before doing something that you might find doesn't need doing.

Having had a good look into IAM, at no point does it say we teach you to be able to drive faster :confused:

As for wanting to modify your Range Rover, fine each to their own, But being able to drive quicker "safely" is nuts as every authority in the country acknowledges that speed kills, that and driver error.
IAM trained or not you are human, humans make mistakes. ;) and funnily enough the faster your going the result of an error is going to be soooooo much worse.

There are at least two parts to being a good driver

1, Drive within your own capabilities

then there's one most folk seem to forget

2, Drive within the vehicles capabilities

Oh and lastly as has already been said just adding an anti-rollbar is only a small part of "improvement" cos in the worst case scenario the best anti-rollbar in the world is going to be useless with crap tyres and knackered suspension ;)
 
I don't understand why if someone wants to make good progression in your and others eyes you might think this means driving around like a lunatic it is just a mere statement . If I were on a county lane with a speed limit of 60 and the person in front is happy with 40mph if I overtake taking in my surroundings ensuring I'm not overtaking approaching a junction, blind bend layby ect and cause no distress to any oncoming traffic then that is classed as progression if you and others want to sit like a prat up someone's arse then that's up to you.
I like to progress with mine and my transports ability takings in all of my surrounding and placing where I want to be and how I'm going to do it when possible that does not make me or any others a tear arse ... Well for most some will never change or understand their driving habits :):):) rant over

In the instance you give that makes sense.
BUT the implication was "I need to upgrade my suspenssion so that I can drive faster" :)

I've never found the range rover that
Stable myself like you said I'd be looking at shocks and bushes if it feels that bad .
