Help please!!!! My P38 won't start. Bloke came round and put a hand-held machine on that said that a relay was over-heating. Was talking to someone in cafe today who said that taking the battery leads off and joining them together for an hour of so will lose all the faults so it should start. Is he pulling my wire? I knw next to nothing about this (tho I love the motor) and the next stage is going to a dealer and with christmas coming I ain't got that sort of money!

Hope someone can through a light on

Cheers

are you showing any faults, engine immobilised,if you are not showing any faults then putting the terminals together will not work, and as for an hour that is too long takes about 30 seconds, not recommended to do this, but i have and it does work.

Thanks Roddy

No faults showing, all lights coming on and engine cranking but no go. should I try the leads together thing? I don't want to get into even more poo!!

Petrol or diesel? Put your approximate location, there may be someone nearby who can help.

If it cranks but doesn't start, could be loss of synch, glowplugs, or lack of fuel. How much fuel is there in the tank? If it's low and the in tank pump has packed up that would cause problems. Can you use/do you own a voltmeter? If you do there are some simple checks you can perform.
