I'm researching Nanoncom as I want one ... I read elsewhere that the original model is the best for my P38 THOR 4.0 HSE ( not the Nanoom evolution model ) ... Any opinions on this and anyone got a Nanocom for sale ?

Don't believe what you read elsewhere, they are talking rubbish. You want the Nanocom EVO.

Paid £320 for my Nanocom evolution from BBS just before christmas and worth every penny. Going off what LR want for a diagnostics session its almost paid for itself. Great bit of kit.

I emailed BBS this morning enquiring what I needed to upgrade my Nanocom Evo to take the P38 with petrol engine
Turns out I need two unlock codes and a green cable, in total just over £200!

You only need 2 unlock codes if you want to do Thor & Gems, you could make your own cable for a tenner.

How's that? Unlock codes are £50.60 each and green cable is also £50.60. That comes to £151.80 including VAT. Are they tearing your arse open for delivery of a bloody cable?

You could if you knew what the connections where. And what other stuff they have put in the plug. :);)

I'd be surprised if there is anything in the plug, but opening one up to check would not be difficult. Would just need a volunteer:rolleyes:

There are a few different cables for different applications unless Colin is pulling a fast one. Green for all P38s. Blue for other Land rover applications and maybe a couple of others for later cars and marks. So there must be anomalies. :);)

Different unused pins on the OBD connector maybe, does the green cable do all P38 systems?

What do you currently use your Nanocom for? Same cable for all versions of the P38 as far as I can see.

Don't see where they get £200.00 from. You log in to get your unlock codes, only thing to deliver is cable if it's needed. Can't be £50.00 for postage surely.

Bit of a scam going on here. Blue lead supplied for Discos/TD5 Etc won't communicate with some P38 ECUs. But Green cable will communicate with All P38s AND Discos and TD5. So no need for Blue lead. Naughty, naughty Colin. :D:D

So the Green cable has a full compliment of wires, the others have some missing so a bit cheaper to make:rolleyes:
I could do them for a lot less than £20 if I had one to copy:)

I have the unit unlocked to the Discovery TD5, emailed and asked what I would need for the P38 4.6 V8

Reply was

NANOCOM unlock code for GEMS Code: NCOM17
NANOCOM unlock code for P38 Systems Code: NCOM16

NANOCOM Evolution Green OBDII lead (FOR P38) Code: NCOM23

When I looked that up on the site, found
NCMO17 £50.60
NCOM16 £102.23
Green cable - £50.60

So £ 203.43

Never even discussed delivery!
