It aint that big hole on the cast pillar is it ?

Oh, and turn key to Position II to remove barrel ...

The discovery has a screw holding the electrics on the back and you take that off first ...

Tried that, among a few other holes as well, no luck.
Problem is the key takes quite a bit of jiggling and guesswork to get to position 2, that's why I was hoping to find someone who knew where the hole was so that at least I'd know I had that bit right while I was pulling and jiggling the other bit.
I have the end off alright, that's how I'm starting it at the moment, once the key is in the ignition you can just stick a flat screwdriver into the end bit that comes off and it will start.

Try cleaning it through with some brake cleaner spray, they collect a great deal of crap that gums up over time ...

That other thread is no help, still doesn't say how to get the cylinder out and the ignition switch is the bit I already have out that I'm sticking the screwdriver into, lol. Bloody range rovers

I can’t find anything in RAVE. It’s hidden in there somewhere.
Looks like something pushes in and it twists away from the black bit like it’s held in on the cam shape?

Try the clean, to make it move easier, then the rest may follow ...

There is one, I'm not posting where it is on here though. I have fitted the barrel from my scrapper to my project car as the project car barrel had been butchered.

Ok i don't blame you for withholding that. Seeing as how Land rover sell a replacement barrel it has to be possible. But an how to on here would not be a good idea.

An awful lot of my time is spent trying to start my own one even with the key and fob, if you can steal one of these things I say you deserve to keep it, lol.
Seriously though, I think I might have made a breakthrough.

The up to date is that I have the key moving freely now, soaked the key in diesel several times and it will turn now no bother. Still have to push it in and out a few times to let it know the key is not still in the ignition but an improvement is an improvement.

When I enquired LR told me that I would require the whole steering column housing assembly and that it was no longer available and even if it was it would be mega bucks:eek: I was sure that could not be right, what goes together comes apart if you can find the right information:D

WD etc will make it sticky in time and every time you put your keys in pocket you stink of oil for week. I colour my key in with a pencil, then as you use it you coat the insides with graphite and no mess

Clean it out with electrical contact cleaner, blow dry and then chuck in a can of that graphite lock lube powder. Does wonders.
