hey guys,
im new to this forum so bare with me lol, i want to paint my p38 grill but not sure how to go about this, i would appreciate some help on how to take off the grill and how i should go about painting it. thanks guys
easy to take off and paint it black looks much nicer, two screws at the top and just lifts out if i remember and you need to use a plastic primer on it befor paint..
what would the standard of been on a 96 dse ? mines a dark grey with chrome edges on the grilles ? is that an oem grille or should it be all plain black ?
could do with replacing to make mint although its ok, chromes a bit worn, what do people make of the newer style grilles on ebay ? like the super charged and sport look ones ?
cheers guys loads of info was gonna attempt it today but its peeing it down outside so may leave till weekend now yeah i do need to get some plastic primer but defo liking the sound of doing it black think it will look a hell of alot better then the mouldy grey look at the mo lol thanks for all your help
recently did mine (it was faded almost to a light grey) in Plastikote black. Didn't come out black but a really nice very dark grey that matched perfectly the colour of the bumper. I did the grill and the plastic bits below the headlights and, as long as you clean them properly before to get rid of old polish etc. you don't even need primer.
I'm well chuffed with mine and it looks factory - finish is really good too. Paint cost £8.99 a can (aerosol) from Halfrauds
cool thats a good idea might do that as well cheers, ive just bought my primer now before reading your post lol well i can use the primer on the suede posts inside the car as ive just been srubbing all the manky stuff off all day yesterday so gonna use the black on the posts and buy that stuff you recommended for the grills cheers
There was a whole thread on this a while back and the general consensus seemed to be Forever black was considered to be the best option. actually re-dyed the plastic bact to a near new finish if given a couple of coats.

Yes quite correct bought some myself and it is the dogs bollocks. After doing grille and headlamp trims still have 3/4 of it left for all the other plastic bits. Parts need a VERY thorough cleaning with soap and Scotch bright. (Nylon pan scrubs) to the uninitiated. Then apply a couple or three coats waiting til last is dry and grille is back good as new. Super stuff and a lot better than paint. Can be used on all black plastic and door handles. But nobody seems to be listening.
yeah was thinkin of doin that as well just puttting second coat of black on posts today and will get some plastikote tomorrow thanks for info really useful these forums are.
Wouldnt bother too much with the cleaning kit that comes with it, as wammers says hot soapy water and a scotch pad s just as good. Done my grille, handles etc a couple of months back and they still look good as new. Takes a few coats and i found using a small brush is easier than the sponge pad that comes with it
well i got scotch pads, plenty of coz they are nicked from my works haha, but that does sound the better option of doing it. just need to get the stuff now thanks guys
