Hi,
Thought start fresh thread. Basically just trying to find out where best place to send FIP for repairs and if anyone had one done recently, where and price?

So far got Diesel Jones, Diesel Bob and AP Diesels (nearest to me).

Can anyone recommend whether they got full refurb done or parts that just failed.

Looking at getting my original one done which has a leak and servo.

Thanks.

Diesel Jones claim to be a full refurb. You give them your old one. I swapped mine a few years ago and it has been perfect so far.

There are many people that will do your pump to varying levels of intricacy. Reason I say ^^^ is because I’ve observed quite a few gone down different routes but that guy charges 1/2 the price of a europarts cheapy and I’ve not seen one person have an issue after.

People come by now and again saying ‘I am Diesel specialist my RR won’t run’ when they find out it’s FIP they say they fixed it easily because that’s how good they are
.... but when you ask how or okay do mine....
they either disappear or start talking bollocks.

Diesel Jones is the bloke to go to, i got my refurb from him and it has been fine. But as said refurbing a pump is easy if you know how, it's calibrating it that needs special tooling.

I agree no point DIY a calibrated pump unless have proper equipment.

He has just asked me for the part number for the pump it's missing off mine.

Does anyone know it by any chance please?

According to Bosch parts list the NVO 460 406 994 VE R 515 pump was fitted at some stage to BMW cars and Omegas. That is the one fitted to the P38. So if you get a pump with those numbers it should be a direct replacement. The one that needs the electrics changing on is the pump ending in 995 that was also fitted to the above but never to Range Rovers.

I got my refurb from a place in Scarborough. Cost me 1,200 fitted plus the old pump. Been a gem ever since.

It’s the way you write it down most likely

Hi chaps,

I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and replace my diesel fuel injection pump. A new one is silly money (looking at £1500 with the VAT) and one off Fleabay will probably be as worn as mine as it looks like low-sulphur fuel kills these pumps.

Given the pump housing is probably as worn as anything else I'm a little concerned about how thorough the reconditioning was and how long the reconditioned pump will last but others on here appear to have been OK so I'm going to give it a go, notwithstanding I could get a whole engine from a scrapper for the same price!

Anyway, has anyone had any experience of these people? I think it is the right pump even though they use the word "classic" in the Range Rover description: LAND ROVER Range Rover II 2.5 D Classic Bosch Diesel Fuel Pump 0460406994

I'm pretty sure 0460406994 is the correct pump for the P38A.
Not me
my FIPs ****ed

Fact your hasn’t got one is dodgy to start with.
I can check on mine for you but no guarantee it’s the right one on there entirely as it didn’t come from ^^^,

the boys will know when they get here

Turns out I have the correct one
