Hi All,
Hit the drivers window switch in an odd sequence and now shows needs resetting, but if I hold the switch to close the window makes and awfulclicking noise once at the top. Iasume some position switch is not working. Is this repairable or do I need some parts? Only asking as have a number of jobs before we go on holiday and was trying to decide whether to give it some time or leave until after the hols.

Thanks and rgds.

Sounds like you need window regulator, they are prone to stripping the teeth at the top of the regulator

Definately window regulator. I've owed two rangies and both needed doing within no time at all. Cost about £40.00 for Brit Part from Island.

Fairly easy to fit, but need to drill out the rivets and possibly re-rivet back into place. Mind the window glass!

Its only a half hour job
Drill (for the old rivets)
New rivets and rivet gun
i think it was a 10mm socket with extention bar
And a regulator ( i got mine from ebay for £25)
Worth noting the regulators ARE door pacific

REfit the regulator with M4 bolts taking care the heads are on the inside and do not foul the mechanism.

That's what I did too, but I think it is very hard to get behind one of the holes so I had to rivet one and bolt two. So I suggest you do prepare before the job by ensuring you have a rivet gun and some beefy rivets to hand.

I originally tried with rivets in all three; but it was noticeably more rigid and less prone to twisting after I had used bolts in two of the holes.

I guess if you have large enough rivets with a good enough rivet gun then the bolts wouldn't be necessary, but not sure many DIYers have that sort of kit lying around...

Cheers
