ive changed the glow plugs changed fuel filter/air filter and changed the yellow relay around in the engine fuse box fitted a none return valve between the fuel filter and injection pump but it still strugles to fire up strate away

Hi, have you tested to make sure the glow plugs are getting power?? also is it hard to start just when its cold or both hot and cold?

Anyone who is getting air overnight in the clear plastic pipe from filter to FIP. Have a look at the O' rings in the fuel filter where the pipe goes in and comes out. Land Rover service bulletins give these as the cause of air ingress in some cases. As the engine runs and the fuel is heated it expands, there is no leak as the O'rings are designed to be sealed by pressure. When the fuel cools and contracts air is drawn in past O' rings.

I put mine as close to the filter as i coud, just to make sure that the line was full of fue when i go to fire her up,

when fitting the non return valve between the fuel filter and f.i.p is it better to put it close to the filter or in the middle

Why you no wissen glashopper. If your vehicle is struggling to start both hot and cold it is 99% down to the ECU temp sensor. What is the point of asking questions getting the answer and taking no notice of it?

About the injectors lines....i changed mines for the silicon ones and solved the problem.
Will have to change the electronic injector as the light in the dashbord sometimes lites....

but...a majos issue now....yesterday travelling home from my parents home at the country side, in the highway a major uphill made my DSE overheat and overpressure...i managed to drive the car home but i am afraid about something serious.
Sometime ago i wrote about a major engine overhaull in another thread...seems the nightmare is back again....

Hi, i have had the same problem, check the viscus fan is working properly and have you still got the fan cowling on the back of the radiator? (the black plastic cover that sits on the back of the rad? it has a hole in the center where the fan sits) it needs this to make sure the fan pulls air threw the rad and not down the side or above etc...

Duff viscous fan more than likely.

Silicone reacts with diesel, the pipe will swell and fumes will permeate the underbonnet area.

Absolutely correct, it was i who recommended silicone a long time ago, because i have a diesel dumper that runs off red diesel that has had silicone spill pipes on it for twenty years, they remain to this day sound. However after fitting silicone to my P38 i got exactly what Keith describes and they were replaced with rubber spill pipe. That was noted by me on the forum at the time. Apparently chemicals in road diesel that are not in red diesel do not like the silicone.
