Also had bought the 'hot start' fix from ebay but i think that thing never worked properly...
Has Mike mentioned, you cut the line and fit in between the valve?

Ive just got the valve and new pipe, il give it a go and post back on here, my hot start fix is dam good, only sometimes it doesnt work, but it was allready on my rangie when i got it but NOT fitted properly... Thanks fellow rangie lovers lol

My 2d worth, hard wire the 'hot start' fix and it fits nicely into the ECU box, so stays nice and dry! I can honestly say there is only one down side to it, and that's the higher than normal tickover for 30 secs or so. I have just learnt to be patient and wait until the speed drops down to the normal tickover before moving off, about the time taken to fasten a seat belt!

Good luck with the valve fitting, just be careful cutting the old clear plastic pipe off the fuel filter union as that is obviously plastic as well!
Over or under the oil cooler pipes that is the question.....
I'll let you figure that out!

I had a BRAIN WAVE :D to cure the weaping 4th injector i went to local aquarium and got two fish tank air pump T pieces, i cut the weaping fuel spill pipe on the 4th (electronic) injector, fitted the T piece in the 4th pipe then "T'eed it off and connected it to the return spill pipe to the pump via another T piece, the whole thing worked a treat until after it had left it ticking over for 10 mins... then disaster:doh::brick::frusty: the plastic T piece melted... fuel everywhere... so now il have to find metal T piece and try again....

Hmmmm that is the question lol, how do you mean "hard wired" did you not use the wire provided with the hot box and wire direct to ecu wiring? is there any chance of a pic...

What i think he means by hard wire, is to solder it in, rather than using the connectors that come with it. It would also appear he took it out of it's little black box and fitted it inside the ECU housing.
 
Yeh i thort he might of ment that but who ever fitted the 1 in mine didnt leave much wire on the ECU side... i dnt like messin with the wiring on the ECU but needs must lol, just a quickie... do ytou rate the "tuning" boxes for the P38 DSE or should i try and find some 1 who can map it... shes just soooooo lazy setting off and im only getting between 13 and 16mpg around town and thats with out even thrashing it... thanks

Could you post a picture from the non-returning valve?

I had a box (Digi Z Power Box) fitted in mine but i removed it. Got to the conclusion that was just over-fuelling the system...and suspect that was the cause for overheating...
In a portuguese forum we discussed box vs chip vs re-map the ecu....re-map ecu might be the best option..
I believe if the FIP is in mint cond the performance will improve....

Many people on here swear by the PSI power box. But be aware these devices gain the extra power and torque by injecting more fuel there is no other way to do it. Something that injects more fuel and uses less is a perpetual motion machine. The 13 to 16 mpg maybe improvable by cleaning out the intercooler and fitting a new air filter. Having the injectors serviced may also improve MPG. Just sticking a power box on is only going to mask a problem not cure it. Mine is mapped, if you use the power you use the fuel, simples. If you drive like a nun you get reasonable figures, but it depends on each particular engine mileage wear etc. So what one person gets will not always be mirrored by everyone else.

what air filter do you use, are some better than others..:D

Hi, thanks for that, i personally would rather have it mapped, but a few places have said its too old, mine is an N reg (1996), and still hac an ECU sooo id of thort it was mappable... could i be checky and ask if you have a number i could ring?? ALL my contacts are for tuning and mapping VWs as soon as i mention rangerover or P38 its instant door slam in face... much appreciated...:)

Sorry don't have any contacts for mapping, mine was done before i bought it. The power box's are supposed to be good and cheaper than a remap apparently. Also you can take them off if you sell your motor and get reasonable money for them second hand. You can't do that with a £400.00 remap. PSI power box and Diesel Bob tuning do the add on box's. Do a search.

It sounds as though your motor is a little sick, cure it first and get it to as good as it can be. Then fit the power box. Don't just fit the power box in place of a good clean out and service. Fit it as an extra, not as a substitute for care.

yeh im thinking of a good service, the air filter is very very clean and lookin new so it must of been looked after, im thinkin of intercooler, remove clean etc, along with full service, thanks for the info and advise, you chaps are great.... that soddin 4th injector spill pipe is still weaping :mad2:

P.S my engine has only done 140 thousand... but my van has done 247 thousand and all still original, so id of thort the BMW engine would be good for ruffly the same high mileage, (had tha van mapped, its faster than penguin **** lol):hysterically_laughi
