I am v. new to this and an enthusiastic but duffer DIYer.
Short point : 2.5 diesel filled with petrol ( £70 Squids worth) : after much struggling with pumps finally realised that the easy way to empty the tank is to disconnect fuel line from tank ( push fit) , connect hose to same and turn on ignition ( fires out a couple of pints per turn).
When I was then about to replace fuel filter ,the fuel line connector (plastic)to filter housing disintegrated in my hand ( see pic) : efforts to extract remainder from filter housing caused further disintegration :eventually managed to extract on straight pull with mole grips from a v. short tag end that was left in the filter housing. Had to replace complete fuel line.
The completed job coincidentally seems to have fixed a cutout/hesitation problem which previously occurred at high revs : is it possible that there was a crack or defect in the plastic connector ?
I just pass this on for what it's worth.
