Good evening folks, some advice please, have bought a set of Panhard bushes, that will be fun putting in, but in meantime have removed steering damper to check, clean and paint , now the question is should I be able to compress the damper by hand quite easily or do I not know my own strength, they seem quite cheap but before chucking this one in bin would like to know if it is alright or knackered, there is some resistance but not as much as I would expect.
If buying replacement any particular make to go for purely for road use, no green laning required, many thanks in anticipation

Should be a fair amount of resistance in both directions. If in doubt change. Standard one is as good as any.

Slow steady pressure and it will compress easily. Do it fast and it should resist.
