Got myself this 97 p38 auto ,{diesel} how do i do clutch test ? might seem a strange question but after manual motors completly different to me. Also is it an easy job for diy, or garage job ,and whats average supply and fit charges.?
By the way up from 18mpg to 26mpg when not riding over speed bumps in 30mph area
Sorry for all questions but this ones a minefield .
However possibly not to those who know

If you are asking because you are experiencing issues similar to a slipping clutch then you'll need to get it checked out by an Auto gearbox specialist. In an auto box this would typically be caused by worn bands or possibly a knackered torque converter, either way best diagnosed by a specialist.

Yeah, but he wouldn't be getting 26mpg if it was that bad.

OP hasn't had an auto before, so a perfectly working auto box will feel like the clutch is slipping to him..
