Kevwill, where do I download that rave manuel please, you said basic tools, are you talking hundreds of pounds for these, and thank you for your time in replying.

Go to "How to" section at top of page look in my EAS how to and read down the page there is a link to RAVE manual download.

Send a Private Message to DATATEK on here. Left click on his user name on his post above. For very few beer tokens, sorry wine tokens - he's in France, he will supply a lead that will connect your Electronic Air Suspension system to a laptop. He will also supply a disc with the necessary software. Then you read and clear any faults in this system.
On the disc he will also burn a copy of RAVE so you will have a complete workshop manual.

Advisorys for m.o.t are
Rear air suspension unit slightly deteriorated.
Rear air suspension unit partially deflated.
Parking brake lever ratchet mechanism is slightly worn
Oil leak(that's all it says on the oil leak)

And that's it for the advisorys on the m.o.t

Looking at that list, that is all quite easy DIY stuff matey.

Swapping sensors from side to side depends on the year.

I am surprised at that, I thought it would be easier for manufacture to have just one type, ah well.

Rovercom is obsolete It was superceeded years ago by Faultmate.

Ah yes, force of habit with the name :). I have a Faultmate Extreme multi vehicle. I started with the Rovacom Lite and it paid for itself on the first repair. (On my 1994 Classic EAS).

The convenience of Faultmate of course is that I have now purchased the software I want for the P38 (including the BECM) and I still have the Classic software and can service ANY P38 or ANY Classic RR - unlimited.

Of course when I change over to the L322, I just buy the software I want for THAT model, no restrictions.

Nanocom is now the best DIY diagnostic device for the P38.
Yes, I had a quick look at the video and it looks good, though it is limited to the P38.

I'd still recommend the Faultmate for its versatility and potential unlimited vehicles (at extra cost). It is gratifying to know that if I have a problem I can diagnose it and if required, obtain any extra software module to fix it.

Either way, such a device could probably pay for itself with the first major repair.

Was out feeding my face - but I think you've had plenty of answers. By basic tools I just meant spanners/socket set/pliers etc etc.
Yep, everything mentioned is easy diy. Don't be daunted; take yer time, download RAVE (then you can print off pages for the job you are doing).
Re oil leak - check where it is, then you can get some advice - and check your oil level.

There is your answer to the EAS problems, airsprings leaking. A set of 4 can be had for £250 or so and unless the rears are corroded in, the whole lot can be changed in a couple of hours including a tea break using my guide.:)
Are we talking diesel or petrol or have I missed that?

Went to another garage, a local, small garage, explained the situation and he offered to run the diagnostics again and then if I can get the parts for cheaper than him, he will fit them at just labour costs. Booked in for Tuesday. Fingers crossed.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

Good luck! Like you I am not mechanic and I understand your pain... People here will be glad to give you advises and help you to save cash.

Yep, good luck. Let us know what this garage says needs doing. I would have thought as the garage is 'trade' he would be able to get parts cheaper (& quicker) than you, plus if he is supplying and fitting parts, it's simpler to sort out if something goes wrong. And if you accidentally give him the wrong part to fit you'll be paying double labour to refit.

Hi all,

Went to the garage today, he run the diognostics, and this time I got told it was the rear height sensor and a leak in one of the airbags, price I got quoted was:
189- rear height sensor.
89- for the airbag.
Plus labour putting the total to 476.

Does this seem a fair deal.
If not and anyone who can do this themselves for a better price, inclusive of bacon sandwich and lots of brews, plus a garage to work in is welcome to come and sort it out for me.

When I mentioned the cruise control not working he said it might put itself right when the suspension is sorted, not sure if this is true or a load of rubbish.
What do you all think.
