I would like to change the camshaft ,chain and followers on my 1999 thor engined p38 its done 125,000 miles and I guess a change is in order .I have had a look around the forum but am still unsure as to which cam to fit can any one that has changed a cam on this model make a recommendation please not to bothered about a performance cam as I like the way the car drives just want to keep up with the maintenance on the car .

Standard cam but make sure you get a good one and job is done properly, there is a lot of shit about. If it is worn change it if the car runs well leave it alone.

Any recommendations as to a make Wammers ,to be honest the car runs fine Jackie ( my wife ) cannot understand why I want to change the cam .I get a bit paranoid about the car, I read all these horror stories on here and I am waiting for the bang like the other week I went out to start it nothing just a click " that's it its gone out of sinc or the BECM has blown up) Jackie comes out "are we going" " car wont start" she jumps in well if you put it in park it might and it did what a plonker .I have just been told to leave well alone thanks Wammers .

Unless you are seeing swarf in your oil/metallic colour to it and running well - if its working don't f*** it!

The oil is fine I change it at about 3000 miles I use a good mineral oil and a landrover filter because a lot of the time we only make short journey's ,although we did drive from Essex to Newcastle and back the other day and the car drove spot on.So thanks again you folks have just saved me a job .
