Water ingress to N/S rear quarter destroying the radio/nav electronics, ABS ECU, HID ECU's/igniters, complex EAS problems, steering column movement failure, EAS pump and plastic valve block on chassis very complex to diagnose, see the posts by rs2000 custom, gearbox made of French cheese, suspension bushes also made of cheese, the list goes on and on. suffice it to say, they now seem to be less reliable than any P38 and very much more complex and expensive to fix.
:eek::eek::eek:
Cheers Datatec will get the guys to go over it if lm going to get it.
At list l know were to look and what to look for now.lv hesrd about the usual gearbox and suspension issues but ecu issues are new to me:(
On the upside it might help knock more pounds off:rolleyes:

Before you jump, look at the posts by rs2000 custom and recent ones by Saint.V8 on the subject of HID bulb failure and the collateral damage.

You can't not buy a 322 on the basis that they have lots of issues as evident on the forum. (Well you can, but that 's your choice)
People often only come onto forums WITH issues and wanting help. Go on any forums, BMW/Audi etc and they all have common problems/issues with their cars too, it's not just LR's.
You very rarely hear about the good times people have had with cars.
Yes 322's are more complicated and expensive to fix than p38's but they are a generation on, with more advanced equipment.
Don't buy one and never expect anything to ever go wrong with it, they are getting on a bit now and will require maintenance/repairs as would any other vehicle at this age.

Edited for accuracy;)

Some have problems some don't !

Just like any make of car, they all have their own problems

Kieth just likes to put a downer on most things that aren't to do with the P38

Cheers all young and old for your input. Will take another look at the l322 this weekend and let you know how it goes

1 wouldn't usually touch one but for £4000 l thought its cheap enough with 8 months MOT.l actually had the car over the weekend and l was surprised by how it still drives. I think I can knock another couple of hundred pounds off it.
An L322 diesel for £4K, that's less than a good P38 diesel. The price alone would make me very suspicious.

That v8 sound is so addictive. I love my interior too, though its a bit dated. The mrs and l always find ourselves in the p38 and its not helping the mileage.
It was meant to be a weekend toy but now its an everyday car much to my annoyance. I get nervous each time she takes it out with the sprogs . That has diluted my enjoyment.

Great looking P38

Sold my p38 to a mate and now running a l322.Its been running perfect . However l miss the old girl.l see her now and again but is now in a sorry state.Well l should have expected it though from a 21 year old. Will post photos off her being abused on an old open pit mine.Nothing seems to phase her and was the best 4x4 there considering its still running road tyres.

I never, ever, ever sell my cars to someone local, especially so when it's a car I've really loved and don't particularly want to be getting rid of.

The pang you get if you see them just isn't worth it.

I totally agree i sold my very first car to a girl local and she still has it. I loved that car it was always clean and all the panels were straight now is dented everywhere and covered in bird **** ;(

Offside side step is bent
Front bumper now ripped n damaged
Huge dents on offside doors. He has a defender but he prefers to abuse the p38

I went through 8 years of company cars so had diesels. Not that i'm knocking diesel but the novelty of a big V8 did appeal to me & as long in the tooth as the Rover V8 is i still think it's a great engine & is what the RR should have under the bonnet - never driven a later TDV8 so cant comment. The TD6 L322 was ok but it didn't inspire me....maybe that's partly company car mentality though.

I love the v8 too, especially the 4.6, but when you drive a zt260 with the 4.6ford sb you realise land rover were scraping the barrel for years.

I don't know, hasn't she got a toilet at home so she has to use the car:rolleyes::D:D
