Maybe but sounds more like dying FIP.

Nanocom06 diagnostics check for sure before spending on parts that may do nothing.
Funny you keep going on about FIP's but will not replace your in tank pump which may well alleviate the problem with your car.

Feel free to buy me one.

I know the symptoms ^^^ too well :D

My lift pump needs doing no doubt, hopefully it won’t be too late. il probably end up renewing FIP eventually too. it does run much better with a full tank.
As I’ve said from start - lift pump would be great but won’t effect MOT October ; first things first :)

Needs diagnostics.
Update. water problem fixed, it was 100% an airlock. Took stat out again boiled it in a pan of water and it opened perfectly. I removed the brass bypass valve and drulled an 8mm hole in the stat body. Refitted and recharged the cooling system. All good no more erratic over heating issues.
Next, just had it on diagnostics to see what it turned up regarding the idle surging and it came up with
error code 132 peddle position/idle switch (does that code match the problem) it also had a couple of other codes. Code 25 glow control, and code 136 fuel quality control. Right, now in laymans terms what parts are required to fix my rangy. I know that I will need a TPS potentioeter but what about tge other parts to sort the other codes.

The car does start perfectly and runs brilliantly so I dont feel the other codes are affecting really but Im not an expert

What diag did you use? When throttle pot drops below 9% idle control is activated. The ECU takes a reading from CPS and adjusts fuel quantity control to increase or decrease fuel to suit engine load and maintain 750 RPM..

According to RAVE, as well as the throttle pot, there is an idle control switch used for overrun fuel cut off and idle control, sounds like that is the problem.
