Glad your ok, if the disco's a total loss, you could get one of these instead

Oh I like that :D

I can see how it floats, but what is making it move :confused:

Going to recce later today when I get back and work out what were gonna do,
Pics when it's recovered to stop people nicking it ;) although I have a feeling it'll be in the local paper

Heheheh, cheers guys and gals .. ;)

Yeah, not slept much at all, sore throat, but that was coming on anyway, I guess the river water I drank didn't help though ... or the 10 minutes of puking it back up by the side of the A38 .. ;)

In a way it's ironic .. After the deep mud forestry tracks of North Yorkshire and getting the Disco filled with mud, I'd stripped it all out and welded the holes up in the rear. It was only when the water got high enough to come in the window (I have window winders, they aren't electric) that it actually sank! Up to that point it was only ankle deep inside, sort of .. ;)

Although the water was up the windscreen, I think that as I'd kept it pointing upstream, it was creating a bowwave that dropped below the windows, hence I had the window half open to speak/shout with David on the river bank .. I think I floated the rear over the hole where we eventually stopped, and the front wheels dropped, killing the bow wave and filling it properly. Seriously, if it had filled earlier I may still have been able to get some traction and get out .. or at least stop it going too far away .. enough to get a line on it anyway, maybe, if, but, possibly ... ;)

As to offers of help, I honestly can't thank you all enough. Steps are afoot to get it recovered. Insurance said they won't even attempt recovery yet, and that due to H&S etc they can't say I can recover it, but that they can't stop me doing anything I like .. ;)

They've agreed about all the additions, lift springs, winch, laptop etc and that I had them recorded .. but won't offer anything till after recovery .. We're hoping to have it home this weekend! All the credit cards and stuff has been seen to and replacements on their way .. amazing the 'crap' you have to sort out.

Again, thanks muchly, it's nice to know I'm here to have the p1ss taken out of, I certainly deserve it.

Going to try and get photo's and videos maybe of the recovery and definitely a thread showing what we do to get it running again .. ;)

Might be worth getting checked out at the Dr's pal, having a belly/lung full of mucky water can cause problems days down the line;););)

Yeah, going docs in a bit. A few pm's convinced me not to be the rufty tufty hard man and get it looked at .. thanks ladies .. ;)

Laughing at the different attitudes .. everyone's concerned, for which I'm thankful, but in the pm's I received the men focus mostly on the Landy, recovery and taking the ****, the women focus on me, getting to the doctor, and keeping warm!

As it should be .. ;)

A couple of mates have been round, one brought me a bottle of Matey bubble bath .. and a can of WD40 ...

They still do matey bubble bath?!!!!! :D :D
My life is completely sorted now!!!!

All the stuff! Hadn't even thought about the number of phone calls that'.d generate  nightmare!

hope you are ok mate that was horrific hope it all pans out ok and you don't get any nasty crap from the water and the insurance company don't shaft you to bad but most of all would like to think that the highways agency takes some responsibility for not having proper signage and the necessary warnings in place good luck to getting it out

Yeah, matey .. it's probably about 20 years old and there's notalot left in it, but it's the thought!

Stuff ... I was on the phone for maybe four hours last night, and still doing some this morning .. You really don't understand the minutiae of 'life' till something happens. I know now I'll back up the phone list more often .. and have a hard copy at home. I'm also getting a record of exactly what's in the Disco, so many tools, spares, 'stuff' and incurance want it all recorded .. it sounds like they acknowledge all the accessories but want it all itemised. :( I ain't a clerk ...

Overwhelmed with the concern from everyone .. cheers .. ;)

Well tools and spares are replaceable!
You my dear are irreplaceable and while the Landy may be a touch soggy right now you thank god have dried off enough :D

LOL at the PMs, but glad you are OK.

I will admit to looking for which ford it could be, but unlike most of the men, not because I want to drive it :p or have a trip out to watch it being recovered

This lead me to a really interesting way to find new lanes, you probably already know it, but I didn't

I guess you all are 'interested' to know where it is, we are all a bit ghoulish lol. But please do not publicly say/intimate where it is. We don't want any scroats managing to strip bits off it if the water level drops.
After the recovery, I presume Paul will say where it is so you can all play to your hearts content and take the p*ss even more.
Maybe Paul could charge for guided tours to help with the rebuild........ :D:D:D
