Yeh but rather worrying is the fact that who ever tried nicking it would only have found about it being there from reading this thread.
It couldnt be seen from any public road, and wasnt visable from the ford either.
If you ever find your self in similar circumstances do not mention the area you have left your pride and joy at. Many folks speculated where it could have been, i found the lane from this information, so anybody could have done.
So glad your ok Paul and that you have the landy back and all intact.
Beware we could have some one using the site for the purpose of nicking our landys

I dunno, could have just been chancers passing, or walking and came back for it .. I don't want to think anyone 'here' would do that ...

Certainly where it was attached is way shallower than where the Disco is. Don't think it's shown well, but the Disco is in a hole, a foot in front of the bonnet and it's barely shin deep, the left hand side of the Disco is again only very shallow .. when I put the shackles on the steering guard even a short arse like me could easily do it without wetting my hair ..

Just look how many guests we have viewing.... We should make them register for starters

Have been saying same for years. It's always been my belief that, the vast majority of landrover thieves are other landrover owners. The sort of person you laugh and banter with on a Landy forum and wouldn't dream for a moment that they've got their eyes on ya landy.. It's why I keep my landies basic with minimum toys. In the hope they'll nick the daft ####, that's bragging about the £2k he just paid for a new set of wheels & tyres.

Didn't look at it that way .. worth thinking about!

You're all B'stards ..

love it .. ;)

Not been on 'cos I developed a chest infection and not been too chipper today .. been sort of sleeping and fidgety at the same time .. getting through it now though. ;)

Funny but the ****-taking is a right tonic .. the laughing's near breaking me ribs .. Cod'nt be bothered reading much though, perched on my weiry arse ..

The actual recovery videos have gone a bit fubar .. two of'em covering a couple of hours of the actual winching have corrupted so I couldn't edit them or even transfer them, but getting them sorted sometime .. :)

thats ok then, thought you would have flippered your lid C'apn ;)

I have a R380 disco box, rear diff and a rear prop. MY usual exorbitant rates will apply of course :D

Waiting to see what they offer before I do anything. Took me tools and stuff out today, cleaned and dried, nothing missing .. and all OK! The mud doesn't seem to have harmed anything. :) I'm thinking I won't put rear seats back in anyway .. it's now an off-roader so we only use them very occasionally and I have an idea for the fronts. ;)

Oil in the engine is NOT gritty, so it's just water (we think) that's gone through the air filter eventually, which stopped the silt or trickled in somehow .. so that'll be OK. I'm hoping it's gonna be the same for gearboxes .. everything had breathers on, which equates to a 6 into one pipe through a manifold .. so I'm hoping pressure equalised and stopped water getting in. Good argument for a one-way valve near the breather manifold anyway ...

I have a spare transfer box and diff .. but honestly, thanks a lot for the offers!! ;)

gearbox will be full of water cos they're not water tight. it'll have got in thru gear selector mechanism

I had the gear tops off about three months ago, and dolloped a load of grease in for just this reason .. here's hoping. Mind, whatever I get back is a bonus now. ;)

Sadly I agree. It's also why I don't list the security devices that are fitted to my 90 in my build fred.

Back on topic, all I can say is fuuuuuck! You did do the lottery for tonight didn't you Paul?

I have to say. I'd start by just changing the fluids then if every thing checks out I'd worry about the rest of it then. Fluids won't cost much and if you find a load of it's terminal damage to the main componets then just let the insurance company take it away. Mind you I want to see the old girl run again. I'm sure she'll be good to go with a quick clean out.

Just read this whole thread (90 mins!) after Ginge and Slipper told me about it last night whilst we discussed matters in a hooky little shed in Wales. Don't ask :p

Anyway, **** paul, kin ell!

Urm, you're a bloody hero!

Quite simply glad that we haven't got a disaster, and glad that you were able to self recover with her on her wheels.

Shame the thread has turned into a torrent of bad jokes but I guess that's LZ for you.

All the best mate :)
