My friends oil pump seems to have failed on their P38, what are they like to change. I am a competent DIY mechanic.

You will need to be. Big job. On either engine petrol or diesel. You don't say which it is.

Its a 97 4.6 petrol, sorry.

Water pump off, sump off, front cover off. Replace oil pump re assemble. Plus all the stuff you have to remove to get at it. Anyway what makes you think oil pump has gone?
