Didn’t realise that they were so bad these days. Fitted an air compressor, height sensors head gaskets etc to my v8 P38, even converted it to gas but was hoping the reliability would be better these days. Was lovely when it was running
RRS is one to avoid IMO, L322 if you must, the 4.4 TDV8 or any of the petrols 2006-2012 are a safe bet :)

Rust and electrical gremlins.

Avoid the 3.6 TDV8. :)
 
The 8 speed box is the one to go for, used on loads of cars now in different guises.
The later petrol and diesel engines fitted to the l322 are the best of the options.. in my opinion

OK when they are running, nigh on unfixable when they go wrong at times. Designed to last the life of the initial lease. Even dealers don't seem to want to know if the vehicle is much over 5 years old. Plus they rust like mad.
 
The 5lt petrol suffers from cam chain problems about 90k to 100k they give up and kill the engine. If they have been done with the modified parts and chain then it should be good to go.
