well - here's a novel approach to faults, quite opposite to the usual problems !
had a few electrical issues this week - battery died (just packed up due to old age, supposedly nothing sinister) - but when back up and running courtesy of RAC jump start, there were a few odd things going on:
gear selection display flashing on dashboard
no intermittent wipers (though fine on full)
no indicators (all lights otherwise fine)
central locking knackered (could only open driver's door; others wdnt operate via keyfob or the dashboard switch)
so, drive to local reliable garage, new battery plugged in, ECU reset and all is well, until i get home tonight, turn the key to switch the thing off, take the key out of the ignition - and the engine is still running !
not going mental like the turbo is knackered, just idling along at about 850 rpm quite happily
so, stuck the key back in, turn it as if i was turning on, then back off again, and this time it goes off as normal - what the hell is all that about ?
more to the point, if it happens again, and refuses to turn off with the key, what's the best way to kill it - auto box, so kinda hard to stall the thing ?
thanks in advance for any thoughts !
