evening all,
the 110's been on the road for a few weeks now and I've hit my first wiring fault.
sometimes when I turn the headlights on the p/side headlight and side light dont come on but the p/side indicators light up!
It seems to do it in the wet so I'm susupecting a fault.. and im suspecting it's behind that headlight? maybe the earth?
anyone else had this issue? or am I unique? lol

dodgy earths throw up all sorts of weird stuff as it tries to find some sort of circuit.......thats where I'd start looking

Hi, it does sound like a classic bad earth. Check the connections behind the light and side light earth

I had the situation that when I pressed the brakes the headlights came on.

Turned out that was a dodgy earth- no idea how it was fixed - took it to the garage and got it fixed there.:)

helpful post, or what :D

Well its not UNHELPFUL at least

I felt it was important to connect with elefantman and let him know I shared a bond, that were were at one, I have walked his path

would have been a damn sight more useful if I'd also told him how to fix it too :D

yes but you got a lift for the last part of the path not walking all the way only half counts

*whispers* tell him to use a spare length of wire and connect between earth contacts on bulb and a good clean earth point on chassis or engine.........;)

:( -only half a bond with elefantman

- unless of course he is rampantly incompetent too and takes his to a garage to be fixed in which case we will be again at one ;)

when is the video coming out?

ok- will take the bait- what video

Two numpties fixing a land rover with lashings of cake:D

you could have a theme where while the crew tore the landy apart and repaired it you cooked a meal- could be a whole new tv series:p

Nigella or is it more the hairy bikers or two fat ladies?

for that remark Fanny - you will never be on the recieving end of my carott cake :p

Well thanks for all the advice ;)

Well.. today my landy has returned to normal.. all lights work as they are supposed to! But I'm still going to investigate behind the headlight.. might even run a special earth for the headlight direct to the chassis just to be sure! lol

Oh.. And on the subject of carrot cake... best is always nice and moist! :p

Almost certainly confirms an earth fault

Could be something got wet and has now dried out (trying to get away from the moist theme but failing:eek:)

Worth giving the headlamp connectors and wing earths a liberal dousing with WD40 if you don't want to take them all apart for now - might just keep the damp at bay
