That has been built as a Td5 Defender 90, on a brand new Td5 galvanised chassis. I doubt if there are any Ninety parts on it except the numbers and the registration document.

Which from your point of view makes life easy, you can treat it as a Td5 Defender 90 and ignore the rest.
Cheers mate …. i’m in a bit of a confused state at pres , been wound up by crazy people offering crazy prices to help me fix/replace the fob,as i needed it sorted asap i put it out there ……. i need to relax and start using Uber for a spell ……. start afresh on Monday when dealers etc are open

Anybody driving a land rover needs to use public transport, taxis, or hire a car at times. Don't worry about it.

Your vehicle does have an OBD socket, but you will need the diagnostic kit that actually works with it, not all do.
The vehicle also looks pretty clean, which will also make your life easier.
Go through it, and read and record the numbers on the engine and major assemblies.
That way, you can look up exactly which Td5 you have, and it will be easier for parts ordering etc, in future.

Foxwell do a very good diagnostic which is cheaper than the other two main ones but works for the whole Land Rover / Jaguar range. So it'll cover whatever you have.
I am one of quite a few on here who recommend it. ;)

i had guy out yesterday from a locally recommended company who spent a hour or so looking for the OBD but gave up and said there is’nt one …his theory was as its registered as a 1984 model they dont have them

FYI—- i found the OBD connector in a bag under the car Tie wrapped above the transmission just below the centre console

So we were right and the so called professional was wrong.
Well, it happens!
Bet you got a lovely warm feeling when you found it!
Now all you need to do is put it somewhere accessible.
:D:D:D:D:D

Does it crank over or not and do you get a light flashing on the dash?

I dont mean an LED flashing btw, theres a red one that has an electrical symbol on it

Hi it did’nt crank over, and it had the red engine light flashing onit ……but .. after i found the OBD i got the original comp back out to replace the FOB and after me spending time under in the rain and more importantly spending some of my dosh its now roarin’ as before

cheers bud …… sorry for long time to reply but have been ill @Christies ….all good now tho’

Well, I reckon that's a TD5 pretending not to be.
We have one round here pretending to be a tdi, reported to the police.

Why? Are you a part time vigilante looking to cause grief for other people?
Because there is local video evidence of it also being used in a theft of a trailer. Along with it being a ringer, that is why I, along with the person who owned the trailer, reported it.
The likely hood of the TD5 being stolen is reasonably high I would suggest.
By the sound of your attitude you think that is just fine.
So, no, I'm not a vigilante looking to cause grief for others but the "owner" is.

This isn’t what you posted earlier. Rebuilding with a different engine is not illegal at all. Which is what you were suggesting. Clearly you have a different agenda to the topic of this thread.

What I posted , if you care to read, was the OPs land rover is on the face of it a TD5 90 and not a Ninety. Even the powers of be recognise this and that is why its on a Q plate.
I then made the comment about a local Td5 pretending to be a tdi. You then went on to accuse me of being a vigilante out to cause people grief.
Nowhere did I mention about rebuilding with a different engine.
So, if anyone has a different agenda it is you, on that basis I would kindly suggest you wind your neck in.

I'd be looking to bring that socket up into the cabin to keep it away from all the elements and road shite ...

And you'll find it easier to access should you buy a Foxwell Diagnostic unit ...

The diagnostic socket should be attached on a bracket, on the seat box, to the left of the cubby box, or seat.
We have a Foxwell to use, works well but more limited than a Nanocom.
